2018 Thor synergy BBQ outlet problem

I have a 2018 Thor Synergy Motorhome with a bbq outlet on the rear passenger side. It has an on/off lever on the outlet top. If I plug a hose into the BBQ propane outlet and turn the BBQ outlet switch to on I get no propane out of the outlet. The propane is on to all the other appliances (refrigerator, water heater etc).

Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum!
Are you sure that you're not getting anything out of it? It's a low-pressure setup, and I don't think that I've ever smelled propane coming from an open end...

I would suspect nothing will come out of the female end of the hose if it also has a self-sealing disconnect.

Got a pic of your hose?

I don't smell or hear or feel any propane at the open end and connecting it to a bbq won't light so I still suspect it is turned off somewhere

I bought a hose from an RV place that has the proper snap in connection for the motorhome connection and on the other end a straight through screw on connection to a small table top Brinkman. but I couldn't light the Brinkman so I just disconnected it and there was zero propane flowing out of the motor home even with the valve wide open. I am wondering if there is another place that needs to be turned on?

You shouldn't get anything out of that outlet without plugging in the mated other half. This is a safety fitting to prevent someone from dangerously opening that valve blowing LP out.
If your grill has a regulator built in it will not be enough pressure to operate the grill as the outlet is on the regulated side of the RV propane tank, you would need to remove the grill, or any other appliance, regulator.

If your grill has a regulator similar to this one, it must be removed in order to get gas flow from the RV.

I'm not familiar with the Brinkman grilles..,
Is that a low-pressure grille?

Nothing much? It just goes back to the continuity problem Duck brought up. It's not an admin topic. Stuff is all over the place on this board. I wish people would pay attention to the topic areas and 'file' where appropriate. I dislike weeding through unrelated topics. My problem. No worries.

Just report the first post in the thread and explain the problem and it will be fixed.

I learned this the hard way...(wisdom is that knowledge you get right after you need it)
That propane outlet is AFTER the regulator (low pressure). You cannot push that low pressure gas through another pressure regulator on your grill. Need to remove the one on your grill or buy a grill made for low pressure pre regulated propane.

sorry about caps. I have a hose hooked up to rv's tank on low pressure side of rv's regulator to run a grill without a regulator. Works well. For longer stays, I want to hookup 20 lb tank using a hose with a regulator instead of the grill. If I turn off rv.s tank it appears that it would work. I wonder if this would damage the rv's regulator.

Probably not, but the correct way to do it is to connect the 20 lb tank upstream of the RV regulator with an Extend-a-Stay connector and continue to utilize the RV regulator with is preset for the RV appliances.
