Melted transmission cable

I’ve detected the dreaded melted transmission cable on my 2015 Vegas 24.1.
Just purchased this MH. The cable comes out of its clip and rests on the exhaust pipe and melts through the cable sheath. I reinstalled cable into the clip and added heavy duty wire ties to keep it away. Mine is still working but it seems it’s a matter of time.
Question. Is this a fairly easy DYI? Anybody perform the replacement?

Not sure if anyone DIY'd the repair.

I took our coach to a Ford dealer who warrantied it.

Was that a recall or just a warranty repair?

My 2015 is off warranty so I replaced the shifter cable myself yesterday with minimal knuckle damage. Took about an hour. Cable was $50 directly from Ford. My cable had fallen out of the clip that’s attached on top of the frame. You can feel for this clip while laying on your back under the MH. I made sure the new cable was snapped into this clip but also used large heavy duty zip tie to ensure cable can’t flop onto the exhaust manifold again.

Common issue for the early Vegas/Axis. Good thing to periodically check.

Ford covered my replacement under warranty. Had to leave it for a couple of days due to ordering a cable, but was better than me doing it. Had to isolate it from the exhaust to make it to the Ford dealer.
