2020 Thor 29M Windsport battery compartment

I am looking for a picture of the Battery compartment of a 2020 29m windsport, I had an overzealous Nephew that decided to help me pull a battery when I was at work. Needless to say he did not take any pictures of wire placement. If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it.

Pictures will do you no good as all the cables look the same.

You need to unplug from SP and lift the negative cable of the chassis battery.

Then find which cable in the house battery compartment goes to chassis ground either by tracing or by continuity test.

Next, wire your batteries together (most 29Ms have two 12 VDC batteries in parallel.

Next, connect the ground cable to the negative side of the batteries.
Now, connect the other positive cables to the positive side. You should have:
1 that goes to a 50 amp DC breaker for the house loads.
1 that goes to a 100 amp DC breaker for the generator and leveling system.
(1) that goes to the chassis battery cross-connect (BIM/BIRD/Trombetta) for cross charging.
(1) that goes to your inverter (if so equipped).

The cross-connect cable may already be attached to a common positive.

Reconnect the chassis ground.

Now see what works and what doesn't. Reset the DC breakers if necessary, check the reverse polarity fuses in the Power Center, see if the battery disconnect switch works, etc. Once everything work as expected, then plug back into SP.

Ask questions along the way if necessary.
Provide pictures to better explain your issue(s).

If you're not sure how to figure out which cable goes where this might be a job best left to an independent RV repair shop. If not a mobile RV tech I believe the chassis battery is totally separate from the coach system so you could leave those batteries disconnected to drive to the shop.

Nope - interconnected through the BIM/BIRD. If it closes the connection he may have a hot loose cable in the battery compartment.

Ace is the place for helpful RV info. Look at all the disconnected cables. Some will go to grounds, some with go to circuits. That's really all you need to know. How the grounds to the negative side and the circuits to the positive sides.

If Knucklehead shows up on here he’s got a 2018 Windsport 29M that he’s changing over to lithium. Maybe he can post a picture. Mine is very similar. Look for the ground going to the frame. Negative to negative then the ground cable. Look at the right upper wall of the compartment. You should have a block with several cables attached. One of those is for positive. POS to pos then to that cable. Google a parallel wiring diagram for 2 12v batteries.

I see it’s been a few weeks since you asked your question and it may already be resolved, but I just saw it today. FWIW, here are some photos from my 2020 29m. The first photo is the original Thor spaghetti. The second photo is a few months later after I rotated the batteries 180° to make it easier to check and refill electrolyte. The last 2 photos were from last year when I replaced the cheap original batteries with AGM maintenance free batteries. Note that I rotated the AGM batteries back to the original orientation.
