Talking 2020 Thor 31W Fixed the problem with the fresh water tank fill!!!

Purchased this motorhome in April, used with only 2900 miles - from Camping World (Oh No). We have had several small issues, but none more frustrating than not being able to fill the fresh water tank - it registered 1/3 full when we bought it, but would NOT take more - the water would just flow back at us.

We read up on all similar problems on this forum, and opened the area with the fresh water tank this a.m. (Under our bed, ever so convenient LOL). Checked the elbows on both vent and fill. No clogs, no crimps. Checked the vent hose - clear. Checked the fill hose, also clear. But . . . . . the fill hose was at the same height as the vent hose. Hmmmm.

Put the vent hose up on a shelf that appeared to be for that purpose (next to the fill hose). . . still cannot fill the fresh water tank; water flows back at us.

Passed a long equine nasogastric tube down the fresh water fill hose into the tank - it fills!!!!!!

Proposed to my husband that I pull the fill hose down off the shelf so it is below the vent hose . . . Voila! success! No long tube needed, fills perfectly!

We suspect the original owners had this same problem, because it looked as though someone slapped a bunch of silicone around the fresh water fill. We were just happy that they didn't plug anything up with the silicone.

Just wanted to post this for anyone else with a similar problem. This forum has saved us so much time, money and cured several headaches already. Thanks!

Had similar issue on basically same camper.
Hard to fill if not much water pressure.
We fill it at house (lots of water pressure) before boondocking.
Also, used levelers to create better angle if need to refill during a trip.

Here is a quick fix for the water tank fill on the 31W 7-1/2" x 1"x 2" board and 2 screw. Also picture of my bed lift mod.

Nicely done on the bed lift mod. I was going to use hinges on the back left panel and reach in for when I need to drain freshwater, looks like you replaced the entire 3 sections with one piece. (Mine came in 3 pieces for the pic you have there.) Thanks for posting pic, gives me a nice schematic to replicate!

GI Tom,

There are more pictures on Modifications & Updates under (Bed lift for a 2020 Four Winds 31W). Yes I replaced the three pieces with 1/2" plywood using 2 piano Hinges and cut the original electrical piece to fit back in to protect the wiring components.
