I have a monthly routine where I start the RV and run for about 15 minutes then shut it down start and run the Onan about the same then I connect up the charger on the chassis battery overnight. I read somewhere that discharged batteries left too long tend to suffer an early death. So far all our vehicles have 5 year battery lifetimes. Just a thought. The real question is out on a trip if the battery dies what will be the replacement cost and availability?

You're killing the engine and generator with that routine. Read your generator manual for required maintenance. Don't start the RV engine unless you can drive it at normal operating temperature for at least 15 to 30 minutes.

Replacement cost is prorated over the life of the warranty ( in case of battery above it is 4 years)

For me, IF ( and that is a big IF) my battery died while on the road, I would just want to ensure I could easily get one. @ $169, the warranty if it applies is really bonus at that juncture. In my case if the battery came with 5 year warranty it would not make much difference ($34) if it failed between 4 or 5 years.

I truly fail to understand how or why Thor has house batteries wired? They should not discharged due to parasitic draw, I know they do as it seems to be big complaint, but I failed to understand the design. When I go to Store mode, there is ZERO draw. I mean ZERO. I have never put a charger on my batteries. Just the alternator when running and Use mode when SP is plugged in.

But it is true that discharged batteries will suffer and early death if they are not already dead. Someone may question me, but I believe overcharging batteries may be the #1 cause of battery early failures. It may be the Self fulfilling prophecy in effect.
