Solera Power Awning

My power awning is slowing down on the retract. It's hooked up to shore power. The extend works great. The retract is slow and then stopped. Extend a little and then retract. Very very slow.

Everything I have read so far is a motor replacement for a fix. Has anyone experienced the same thing.

Solera Power Awning

I do notice that the extend is much faster than the retract on mine but
I have never had it stop when retracting.

Solera Power Awning

Mine did the same and I called the Solera people and they quickly blamed the motor and offered to send me a new one. They were very quick to that conclusion and solution! I never did switch them out because I found that with shore or generator power it always made it in albeit slowly. And I traded not too long after (not for that reason!). The tech told me that the reason they go out easily but come back in with difficulty is that the gas struts are trying to help it on the way out and resisting on the way in.

Thanks. Never heard that about being on shore power. A lot of people replaced the motor and it solved the problem.

Well the Solera people were pretty sure the motor needed replacement so maybe that really is the proper solution. But until you get around to it try the shore power or generator to up your voltage a bit. I’d be interested to see if it works.

I am on shore power all the time at home. The awning is still very slow. I did notice that the grommet was missing that covers the hole for manual retraction. I am sure water has gotten inside the housing.
