AC won't run due to computer communications problem
I've had my unit in to the dealer for repair three times with this item on the trouble list, and it still isn't fixed. Thor installed a computer in this rig to run most of the electrical items. The problem is that it tries to be too smart. It won't let either air conditioner or the electric dryer run if it thinks we aren't either on the generator or shore power. There is an intermittent communication problem between the main power transfer switch and this main computer. Shore power has always been available in the proper voltage range, and the transfer switch itself works fine. But the serial communications link frequently won't work. When the computer can't confirm the transfer switch position and the voltage (even though I've confirmed them to be right), it won't let the AC run.
I've tried turning the AC off and on again, and also disconnecting and reconnecting the communications cable at the transfer switch. Each of these seemed to solve the problem at least one time. But now it's working less and less frequently, and we've had to go for over a day without AC in hot weather just because of this communications link problem. Does anyone have a suggestion about how to get it fixed? My dealer is supposed to have one of the most capable and trusted (by Thor) service departments, but they can't find the problem.
