Acceleration hesitation

On an extended trip on our 37 KT Challenger to Niagara and beyond. Experiencing a sporadic hesitation when I try to accelerate. Occurs when I'm on an access ramp, or at times when I slow down for traffic and then attempt to speed up. Anyone experiencing this?

No, and you need to have it checked at a Ford dealer.

What year V-10. How many miles? If you aren't getting any codes on the dash the dealer may or may not be able to determine a "sporadic " issue. I would certainly follow SuperD's advice and have it checked by one though.

Codes may not show up on dash, you need the Ford dealer to plug in a code reader. This may sound stupid but make sure your gas cap is on tight, if not it will cause all kinds of strange things to happen.

I've had the unit at the Ford dealer already. They had a technical bulletin on another issue, and thought the computer reset would correct both issues. Did not. Obviously I'll be going back for follow up. I did more research and found the problem has existed for some time. Makes me wonder why they have not fixed it already.

Picking up RV tomorrow from Ford Truck Center. I had them check out the acceleration problem. They ran diagnostics and road tested the unit multiple times. Could detect no problem. The consensus is that there's a delay in the digital signal that is part of the acceleration process. So, next step is the 5 star tuning system.

Good choice!!! I installed the 5 Star on our coach and love it. If you have any problems call 5 Star, they are super nice and very helpful!

Acceleration hesitation

Picked up RV today, senior mechanic commented that some units have experienced this after driving in rainy conditions. Water may get to air filter, affecting air flow to fuel system. Something to keep in mind.

Installed 5 star software yesterday. Took a short drive this morning. Already can tell a difference. Unfortunately, still having the acceleration hesitation. I figure it will get worse and they will find the problem or not. I'm beginning to think that it is a computer issue.

Have you tried adding a can of fuel injection cleaner to the fuel tank?
