Access under wall slide

Hurricane 2017 - 29M Just replaced one Schwintek motor and now the full wall slide works as new. New lubrication did wonders. In the process, not knowing what it was for, I replaced the ripped rubber access cover under the slide with a metal cover. Big mistake. On closing, the slide crunched the new metal cover which blocked the slide from closing. What is the purpose of this rubber access cover? Anyone with a successful repair to the original cover which was ripped? I'd love to see an interior shot of the whole slide platform. Love our 29m even though it continues to challenge me and my old brain. This forum is great and I look forward to delivery of my borescope, as suggested on this forum.

That "ripped rubber access cover" with bag is where the wires and plumbing that got into the moving slide from the stationary MH are wrangled and managed. It has to be flexible for the moving umbilicals.

Your lucky it stopped or your metal cover would act like a gelatine and severed any wiring and plumbing, don't ask how I know. You can actually open the bags velcro slit and stick a flashlight and your head up inside to check.

I had my wife make material covers with Velcro. When we camp and open the slide, I put the covers over the openings to seal out mights, bugs, etc. Then when we are ready to out the slide in, i just pull the covertoff and stow them.
