01) I hit map and it shows a .exe file

02) 8gb card was out I pushed in. Do I need to remove to update? How does one remove?

Do what I did. Set a Garmin GPS on the dash, fire up Google Maps on a mobile device for a backup... attach a monitor to your rearview mirror and only use the Axxera head unit as a power source for the rearview monitor. IMO, the Axxera dash unit screen is too dim to be seen by ordinary humans in daylight. Also, mine's too far from eye level to be practical. What were they thinking??

I had no card when I took delivery on my unit which also gave me nothing but messages and no maps. The dealer ordered a new card for me and all works fine now. The card should have all your maps and information on it. It needs to be in the slot for the unit to function properly. I will say however that I believe the unit is junk as a gps due to poor brightness, but it does a decent job as a monitor for the rear camera. I also have a Garmin as my gps. Others have chosen to replace the unit with dual rail Kenwood or something similar. Plenty of info and recommendations here, just do a search for Axxera.
