Handy little tool

Handy sewer hose connection tool. Takes the grunt work out of those connections that are a little to tight in inconvenient places like the Vegas. I think there are spanners available for sewer hoses from RV suppliers, but I needed one to right away when I had to use a spare hose due to a leak in current hose. Seems like the hose connections are getting tighter on the hoses lately or maybe it's due to age catching up with me. Anyway for 8 bucks it saved me from straining for the rest of the trip.
I have no affiliation with Harbor Freight other than addiction to tools.
I dulled the teeth on the claws so not to chew up the hose connection.

I've got a strap wrench that helps with that.

I have a Thor Axis (same as the Vegas) and I don't lock the hose all of the way as undoing it is almost impossible due to the difficult access in the Axis. This wrench looks like a good solution. Don't know if it will fit inside the dump valve compartment though. Will have to look.

Doesn’t your compartment have an underneath access opening with removable cover?
And the discharge pipe rotates down into the access opening?

That leaves plenty of room to use this tool.

If your configuration is different, please explain.

These are pretty handy for connecting/disconnecting, especially when you have arthritic hands like me.

I leave my outlet turned down with a cap over it. I foamed around the opening to keep some of the road grime out. There is no problem getting the wrench on the hose fitting from underneath. Leaving the outlet turned down eliminates one more thing to dump.

Thanks for this post. Last weekend at a longer line in one of the Florida SP's, I busted up my knuckles as I tried to hurriedly disconnect when dumping at the station. This would have saved me hassle and heartache. I'm in my early 50's, so enough elbow grease to still get by, but agreed it can be difficult when fully engaged to disengage sometimes. Easy to add to my list of items for next trip. Thanks for posts!

The 2021 Axis/Vegas and maybe those of a few years earlier do not have the rotating elbow that rotates down. Thor saved a few bucks and made it fixed. Makes it much tougher to get off.

Anytime I purchase anything new for the sewer hose or the hose itself, I break out my file and remove a little plastic until the couplings are tight, but not to the point of having a hernia or needing a tool to remove.

The 2020 still had the swivel on the new Ford chassis. They have always been hard to swivel. Are you sure the 2021 does not swivel?

Had to replace drain and basket assembles (2) in MH kitchen sink. Nothing worked on the frozen brass nuts until I pulled out my oil filter wrench like yours. Left it in my motor home and bought a new one for my home tool box.

Mine is like that, I twist it down and use one finger from each hand to twist it on, never had a problem. Maybe it's the brand of hose that makes it so hard

The only thing I had to do on my 2016 24.1 vegas was to cut off the sharp ends of the pesky little screwes that hold the bottom circular cover in place on the compartment ... they would tear up my hand every time I tried to connect the sewer hose from underneath.

I also cut off the pesky screws and leave the outlet turned down. I also reversed the door so that it swings up, rather than down, eliminating the hassle of trying to connect with the door blocking you.

I use slip joint sewer hose with a 90 degree hose connection that has a short horizontal section attached. The horizontal piece gives me the leverage to connect and disconnect with minimal effort.

Our drain always turned down but hard. The handle on our black tank bayonet broke and warned to replace it and saw the same complete combo elbow with 2 bayonets on Etrailer. Replaced the whole assembly with a Valterra instead of the stock Bristol brand. Turns down like a dream now and 2 nice new bayonets to boot. About $45 I think.
