Gremlin hunting

So, here’s a weird one.

3 systems in my ‘11 Windsport 31D- the dashboard HVAC blower, the retracting step, and the hydraulic levelers- will work only in one specific circumstance. The headlamps need to be in the parking lamp position, and the fog lights need to be on.

No other combination of buttons, switches, or cursing will make those three sort of important systems work.

Even weirder- the light inside the fog lamp switch that should illuminate when the lamps are on illuminates in reverse- the indicator light is on when the switch is off.

Wonky ground somewhere maybe?

I talked to Thor, and honestly that got me nowhere. I got 7 wiring diagrams emailed to me, and most of them are pretty much useless- surround sound wiring and whatnot.

Anyone experience anything similar? Have an idea where to start? S.O.S.!

That IS odd...
I'd start checking the ground wires first, and then move on to looking for wires that have had their insulation rubbed off, and are "cross-firing"...
Good luck!

I’ve had it for about 2 years, but this is new.

Definitely sounds like a ground issue.
If I were trouble shooting, I would make a jumper wire with clips. Connect one end to neg battery and other to one of the switch grounds to see if it corrects the problem.

Oh, that’s brilliant! I’ll give it a shot. Thanks!
