Atwood Water Heater

Flame is surging. Sometimes it burns back at the air regulator. Any ideas as to why? Any adjustments?Click image for larger version

I have another problem with the Atwood. It would not lite up. Seemed to have no power. I wiggled the wire harness and it fired up. When I wiggled the wires some more it shut off. Wiggled again and it is running for now.

Atwood Water Heater Axis 24.1

On our recent trip, our water heater failed us. We thought, in our haste to get hot water, we did not wait for the hot water tank to fill completely, as we did not open the valve prior to leaving home...figured we burned the element.
Today, Ron checked it out and found the propane would not ignite.
He opened the outside cover and immediately noticed one of the wires had worked loose. He plugged it in ... and both elec and propane ignition to the water heater worked.

WE ARE HOPING THAT SOMEONE WHO HAS HAD TO REPLACE THE ELEMENT ON THE 24.1 can confirm the location of the element. Is it on the backside of the water tank, under the refrigerator area ? It is not accessible from the outside door as many are and most UTube show n tell video instructions show.

thanks !

K
