Auto retract awning.

Does anyone know how to test the auto retract, more specifically the point or location of the sensor that tells it to retract. Called TCS and all I was told was, “It should retract if the wind is above 6mph.” I did learn some thing’s about the awning that I should have known all along. 1. One push of the extend or retract button will extend or retract the awning. 2. Auto retract only works while on shore power or generator.

I am not sure where the sensor is located but my unit has closed several times when it became too windy. I was on shore power at various campgrounds. I also was clearing leaves off of my awning by pushing up on it to get the leaves to fall off when the awning sensed it was windy and it retracted automatically.

The TCS is located inside the front roller cover, the cover snaps off.
It's the 1 1/2x 2 1/2 x 3/4 ish plastic box it just slides in.
If the awning is out when you pull the TCS the awning will retract.

Ours auto retracted when I was washing the awning roller with a car wash brush.

The sensor senses up and down motion as you have found out. Mine usually takes several gust of wind and then retracts. So far it has worked very well. I usually only use the front so haven't had any experience with the rear awning retracting.
