Flex Seal Liquid

Has anyone used the Flex Seal Liquid on their roof?

Thanks

Not on the ROOF, but on a sign I made just to test flex seal.
The spray liquid had problems in five months and was totally gone in about 15 months.
No trace of it left,
12 or 16 oz can, emptied in many coats, on a 5x14" board.

However.
I think if you used flex seal and then painted over it, the paint would protect it for many years.

On our last MH, we had a leak where water was getting in around the TV antenna cable. Didn't have any Dicor on hand, so we hit it with a little of the spray Flex Seal. Never had that leak again.

IMHO!
If Flex Seal in any form was the ultimate sealer they'd be selling/advertising somewhere/anywhere better than "as seen on tv".
There may be some situation where a Flex Seal product would be great, but on my rv roof isn't where I'd want to experiment using it.
I'd also contact the roof material manufacturer & ask their opinion rather than asking on a forum.

I used spray flex seal to do an emergency fix on a small leak around the shower skylight since we were on the road. Lasted until I could get home and do a proper repair.

I thinking more in line of Flex Seal Liquid. You actually put it on with a brush.

I like
Plasti-dip and tulip paint if it's a brushable liquid you want.
I have had both down to 666 feet in the ocean and no failures on hydrophones or electrical connections.
No failures on auto parts.
Plastic-dip lasted 7 years that I know of with just slight chalking while sitting in the lake havasu/Mojave/Mohave sun, unsheltered.

(This is why I tested flex-seal. A comparison)

Clean the roof and the Dicor and then put EternaBond tape over every seem, joint and mounting point.... then forget about it and doing maintenance again..... other than cleaning the roof once or twice a year. It comes in multiple widths so you can find sizes to cover everything neatly.

Keep a roll on hand in case you encounter any damage during your travels from a tree branch, etc. It will make a great permanent repair in most cases.

You'll thank me in the morning.....

Hey Judge,
Did you remove any dicor before applying the eternabond. This is a soon to be done project for me

I did not. I just cleaned the surface area and let it dry then applied 4” EternaBond tape on there and rubbed away to make sure I had a good adhesion. Been on my roof for 5 years with no peeling or anything.

I might have taken some denatured alcohol and done a quick wipe also. But not 100% since it was 5 years ago.

Did you use acetone or mineral spirits to clean the roof

Brake cleaner works well.
Eterna bond also makes their own brand cleaner and their own primer.

Yeah but it's way over priced

Seriously far far overpriced.
I have some(Amazon warehouse $8 deal).
I swear it's just acetone with enough ketone to throw off the acetone smell.

https://www.amazon.com/EternaBond-Ou...s%2C817&sr=8-8

Here it is for $12 as a warehouse deal.
The can should last doing small repairs for as long as you own the RV.

Everyone beat me to a reply.... and is pretty much on the money!

My coach was new and so the Dicor was still pretty white. I used this roof cleaner and it cleaned it right up.

A seam roller like this one is good to use as well after applying the tape....

I know people who have gone to Silicone Roofing... 1/4" , works well, but when wet, it is slippery... check into it!!!

Flex Seal

Once again most everyone beat me posting a reply.

I think I have tried pretty much every Flex Seal product that Ace Hardware stocks; I can't recommend one of them. A couple of the products seem to work for a little while, but they eventually fail. I feel that the whole product line is extremely overpriced. If I were on the road and needed a quick fix, I might use a flex seal product to get me home where I could make a more permanent repair.

I'm at the point that I want a more permanent repair, not a temporary fix.

I redid the roof on a motorhome last summer. A friend recommended this product. It is great! easy to apply and it sets up perfectly. One coat, no primer, butyl rubber.
