Awning Replacement

My awning is starting to get pin holes in it close to the coach. I guess that part is always exposed to the elements.

Anyhow, I want to replace, rather than repair (e.g. tape).

a) Have you personally tackled this before?
b) What type of 'fabric' did you choose and why?
c) Were you successful and, if so, what did it take to reach the end goal?
d) Is there anything else to share regarding this task (did I miss something)?

Thanks for your help.

Yes

Acrylic. It is more expensive, but it is breathable, which is important for us. We live in a humid area and our previous awning was vinyl, which is not breathable. It constantly trapped water while rolled up, and was very prone to mildew. It was a constant problem, even when put away dry.

Yes, were where, but you will need at least two people. It takes a lot of pushing and pulling to remove and replace the material.

d) Is there anything else to share regarding this task (did I miss something)?

Check out Youtube. Lot's of videos there showing what's involved.

Thanks for your help.
See above.

A few years ago while in the Zephyrhills area near Tampa I watched a local company come in and replace awnings quite often. They were a local mobile company that basically dealt with awnings. They were all females also, fantastic workers and were quick. They would come to the site, measure the awning and order a original fabric and material of your choice. When they returned to install the awning they would check all hardware on your MH/trailer and tighten or replace anything that was not up to snuff. Usually the replacement time was 45 minutes to an hour long. Cost for a 30 foot MH awning installed was approimately $600.00. I would call around locally and see what they quote you but stay away from a camper dealer or Camping World, use a private mobile company that deals in awnings.

Hope this helps you.

I bought RecPro awnings to replace the old awning broke on my rv. As I know from reviews, these awnings come with a tensile strength of 140 psi and are also UV resistant. This means that they are able to withstand exposure, wind, and weather.
