So first, what IS the recommended lube for the slide and internals? Graphite?
Secondly, I replaced a lock because of a broken slide about a year ago. The one I replaced had the red handles, my new one has the black. That is the only visible change I see between the two pictures. No packaging left around here any more. Would the stronger model have a slide that is magnetic? Is that a definitive test?

The Trimark p/n 37575-01-k is the new steel plunger, don't know if 060-1650 is the model number for that part. Waiting on Trimark for confirming the model no. If u want to see if u have steel versus zinc alloy put magnet on it, zinc alloy one is not magnetic.

I'd like to know too, that's the same one we have. Also, I don't think lubing the lock is going to help.

Trimark website describes the 060-1650 as having a zinc rather than steel bolt or latch pin.
A search of their website for part # 37575-01-K shows negative results.

Mine is zinc on my Vegas and I would like to avoid the whole getting locked in or out drama.

The only thing I know for sure is if u call Trimark p/n 37575-01-k is the redesign with steel plunger.. U can order from Trimark directly for $201.. It may be fairly new because nobody at the repair shops have heard of this part no. N none of the documentation on their website show this part no. Either. I'm trying to find out if redesigned model 60-1650 is the steel plunger since this model is on sale at pacific rv for $89. N free shipping.

Ok, just got off the phone with Ann @ Trimark and learned the following.

If you look at your keys they have a code on them , if you have a 4 digit code you have a 060-1650 (newer style) latch.
It has a zinc bolt , no 4 digit code then you have a 060-0650 (older style ) lock.

For the 060-1650 lock (newer style) there is a retrofit kit part # 37560-01 at a cost of $141.45 that will allow you to install steel bolt in your current lock.
For the 060-0650 lock (older style) you have to replace the entire assembly with the part # 37375-01-K lock.

I didn't get a price on that but I believe I read on an earlier thread that it was $200.00 plus.

I have an early 2016 Vegas and it has 4 digit keys . My 37560-01 kit is on order.

I was able to have my nephew-in-law trim the steel just slightly on the screen door in the right place so that my remote RVLOCK works perfectly with the screen. I am lucky that he is a pipefitter and has all of the tools to deal with metal. I hope that you are able to find a good fix for your situation.

No trimming necessary .
I am simply going to upgrade what I have with stronger internal parts from the manufacturer .

The recommended slide lubricant is CRC Power Lube High Performance Lubricant with PTFE available from Amazon. I also use it to lube my door locks/hinges.

So, how easy is it going to be to update the lock?

Great info. Please let us know how the retrofit goes. I have 4 digit keys for my 2016 Axis but I won't be back home for several months. I'll treat it gently and hope it holds.

I'll let you know for sure after I see the kit ...
But Based on what Ann told me I believe I am getting the exterior half of the lock .
It is that portion that contains the lock bolt or sliding latch .

That's why it is so expensive. They won't just sell you the defective slide. Doesn't give me a warm feeling for a company that builds a defective part that can lock you inside - a giant safety hazard - and then charge $140 to replace it. The people who have had problems should report them to the NTSB who is the only one who can get the company to replace all of their defective door latches before someone gets hurt.

I agree with you 100 % but at this point I am only interested in making a potentially dangerous or even deadly situation safe.
It's $140.00 plus extra keys (originals will no longer work ) and shipping costs .
They should give me the parts for free and be thankful that I am willing to provide the labor.
I imagine if this involved a current production car then there would be a recall .
I will feel much better with the new parts installed no matter the cost.

800-431-8616 . I spoke with Ann , she did not have an extension number.
She was very familiar with the rv door lock in question.

Axis Lock

I dumped the Tri-Mark lock and went to the Bauer version instead. I respectfully would not invest $140 into the Tri-Mark lock. Replace the whole thing.

How come in 2014-2015 Winnebago and Trimark had a NTSH recall because "people could be locked in the coach or locked out of the coach" due to a faulty deadbolt, but THOR doesn't do anything?
