Axis Roof Maintenance - Attempt Anyway...

I saw some videos on Youtube about using Zepp Floor Polish to help with RV fiberglass. With only 2 years in on my Axis, the front cap roof was looking terrible, so I figure I'll try it...

I used Krud Kutter to clean the roof, after 2 rounds of cleaning, this did help with how terrible it looked, but not surprisingly, not much shine. The third photo is just after 2 thin coats of Zepp Wet-Look Floor Polish. I still have 2-3 more coats to go. So far it looks so much better. Given how the last 2 wax products I used did absolutely nothing, I at least have hope!

I'm wondering if adding a coat of Dicor UV protectant when I'm done? Don't know if that would interfere with the polish or not. I'll experiment over the next few months.

I'll report back in a few months to see how it does over the course of a normal summer.

Ours was so bad that we had the front cap painted. We did buy the five year finish warranty on a fluke. Kind of glad we did. Now have a claim in for the top of the rear cap as well. The gelcoat just cannot stand up to the UV.

Questions, questions....How does the painting process work? Just the front and rear cap are painted? Not full body then? Does it blend in with the rest of the coach? Any pictures to share?

I don't think a picture of ours would really help show the result but I can tell you that when the company in Chino, CA, painted the front cap, the only thing you can tell is that it has a real paint shine. They painted down to the middle or so of the front pillars and you cannot tell where the paint ends and the original gelcoat begins. Happy with the how it looks now and am looking forward to getting the rest of it taken care of as I said before. Full body paint is one RV option that you learn to appreciate but again, initial cost is an issue.

If/when I get our front roof cap painted I'm going to have them paint it white. Just the top of the front roof cap. From the ground you might be able to see the small white line..
