Axis/vegas slide working out while driving

I have had a couple of instances of the slide becoming very noisy ( rattles) after driving a while - pushing the "retract" button moves the slide inward , particularly at the top. Anyone seeing this also . And, no, I do not use the lock bar. Maybe I have to?

You need to use the lock bar.

When I was test driving mine, the dealer did not have the bar in place. It creaked and groaned on the test drive. With the bar in place, the noise was eliminated.

You may want to get that checked out. The slide motor serves as the brake for the slide and if your slide is working out while you are driving the motor may be slipping or the rails and motor gears may not be adjusted correctly. You mention top vs bottom with the retracting comment. Have you noticed whether the problem exists on one side vs the other or does it extend equally on both sides at the top?

I agree; you should have your dealer take a look at it. We've put almost 5000 miles on our Axis and have yet to use the brace. The slide has remained closed, silent, and tight the entire time.

Thanks for the replies. It happened again-both sides of the top of the slide come out-granted we live on a VERY ROUGH ROAD. unit is off of warranty, so I will be fixing myself.... Any other info on the system?

BTW-do you have two slide locks, or one? I only got one with my MH.

My Axis only came with one slide lock.

The slide mechanism is a Lippert Schwintek system. Lippert has two channels on youtube with a ton of videos on it:
