Axis/Vegas wiper switch fix
Like a lot of people have commented, I have always hated the switch that Thor used in my Motorhome for the wipers. So I have designed a module that can use the Ford multifunction switch located on the column. So far, on a breadboard, the switch has full function, including high, low, all intermittent, and spray… if there is a lot of interest in this, I may make and start selling these modules. Tell me if you would purchase one. Not sure how much one would cost yet.

I'd be interested depending upon the price.
Keep us advised, please.

I actually received the PCBs that I designed in the mail on Friday… I will try get one assembled and post some pictures. Installation would basically be the six wires from the multifunction switch to the module and 5 of the 6 wires from the Freightliner switch to the module. Sixth wire is for illumination, which isn’t needed for my module. I also designed a housing that I can 3d print for the module as well.

Will this work with the Ford E450 or E350?

It should work if you have this multifunction switch…
And it has this 6-pin plug on the back of the multifunction switch…
And you currently are using this switch

Looks like the 2017 E350 and E450 have the same schematic. So if you can find these wire colors at the multifunction switch, I have no doubt that my module would work…
This is what the module looks like.
And I 3d printed a housing for it.
It can be mounted under the cover above the gauges. The wires from the Freightliner switch are long enough. I had to extend the wires from the multifunction switch. I just used some 22 gauge wire.

I do not understand. What is the problem you are trying to fix? I get that most cars no longer have the wiper controls located on the turn signal stalk.

Some of the Thor motor homes, including mine, don’t use the Ford wiper controls located on the turn signal stalk to operate the wipers. They instead put an aftermarket wiper switch way off to the left, that is generally disliked, and left the Ford control in place. This removes that aftermarket switch and uses the Ford wiper controls on the turn signal stalk instead. I have a 2017 Vegas. Im not sure what years or models that Thor did this in, but if you search the forum, there are quite a few complaints about this.

I'm in for one.
I'll do the e450 experiment to verify usability for everyone.
Send soon and I'll install/verify soon.

Ok, now I understand. My 2018 F53 ACE uses the wiper control on the turn signal stalk. I did not realize that some motorhomes would ignore the stalk controls and use another system instead. Thanks for the explanation.

Both the E350 and E450 have the same multifunction switch. So yes.
Part number for the multifunction switch is W0133-2237158. For 2005 to 2019 E350 and E450…
The key is that it has this connection.

So far, with all my testing, my prototype is working perfectly. I have another person testing it as well. I want to hear his feedback to see what improvements, if any, I should make. Keep posting if you would be interested, so I get an idea of how popular it would be. I’ll post any updates soon.
