Axxera radio problems?
I see posts almost every day about people having problems with their Axxera radios.
This is all you need to know, Most have a reset hole, insert paper clip.
most have a fuse on the back of the unit.
it is very common to have loose connections on the back
If the above do not solve your problems
THROW THE PIECE OF CRAP IN THE TRASH AND BUY A DIFFERENT BRAND!
These Axxera units make the rest of the Chinese stuff look good.

I agree.
The amount of time and effort put forth to salvage a $50(when new) placeholder radio is just ridiculous.
The people who learn an entire new skill set, currently don't know a Phillips from a flipoff and think they can remove their dash in the salvage attempt... Ridiculous. They never come back here and tell of the $500 in damage and the trip to the radio install place to fix their mess up.
Buy the radio with good reviews of your choice, go with a $100 to a radio install place, take a walk for an hour, come back to a 1,000% better unit with apple or android and 10,000 apps installed in it.
It's a KIT vehicle. Be glad Thor lended you a radio until you found the one which best fits your circumstance.

Oh, you are so spot-on! What a piece of crap this Axxera radio is! I just took delivery of my Vegas 24.3 in March, the original unit blew up when the tech at the dealer was troubleshooting it! The factory replacement Thor sent out and the dealer installed STILL will not run Apple CarPlay, Siri does not hear your voice commands and no answering phones either, IT DOES NOTHING. The USB ports read.NOTHING you attempt to play music-wise- IT CANNOT READ MP3s!!
Any suggestions as to aftermarket options? This POS I hope to put a hammer to once I find a better alternative-which shouldn't be hard, because this cheap-ass unit Thor should be spanked publicly for insulting us customers.

We got our Axxera to last for 5 years before it finally crapped out. Nice thing is since they are already an after market deck super easy to replace.

Here ya go...
Kenwood DMX706S 7" Digital Media Receiver with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto https://a.co/d/hmiz93D
After buying the best, better get some quality noise cancelling Bluetooth headphones, because motorhome acoustics are known to be "somewhat detrimental" to studio quality audio.

You are exactly correct! We tolerated the Axxera for 5 years and finally replaced it with a Kenwood that is so much better.

Genius lines here.
We are 14 months into our Axerra and am starting to notice mine is obtaining it's own personality, occasionally blinking out when using my side and rear cameras, some other odd behaviors. So far, me yelling at it and occasionally glancing sternly at it has worked. Luckily I don't need much more at the moment other than for the cameras and a local radio station, but I know that will change as we travel more. Good thread here, thanks to all.

I’ve had similar issues with the blinking - a good whack on the dash usually solves it in the short term. For a long term fix, I removed my doghouse to gain access under the radio. There is a yellow RCA connector that is the video input to the radio. It seems to want to work loose so I pinched it so it would mate tighter and don’t have the “flickering” any longer.

Thanks Jim, very helpful. I may take a looksee in the doghouse when wife isn't around, so I don't end up sleeping there later on.

Does the Kenwood you linked to have rear camera capabilities? I need to replace the Axxera HV615BHM in my Freedom Elite 22FE (2017) only has 14,000 miles on the MH

Kenwood DDX6706s
We replaced the Axxerra with the Kenwood DDX6706s and its camera is better than the Axxera. Do your research before buying a replacement. We are very happy with our Kenwood.

What model is your Kenwood? Should I assume that my camera currently mounted on the back of the Thor would be plug and play?
Thanks

Thanks -- I am a neophyte to the RV/MH world. Thanks for the quick reply about your Kenwood DDX6706s. Do I have to replace the camera that is already on the back of my Freedom Elite 22FE and run wires all the way to the radio?

The camera does not change when you change the radio. Almost all radios have an RCA connector for the backup camera. It's an old school video standard.

I am still struggling with getting the plastic trim off the front of the Axxera AV615BHM radio in my 2017 FE22.
Any help will be appreciated.

Nothing happens sticking a paperclip in that hole on ours.
Loose wires maybe, but our entire dash needs removed and looks to be an undaunting task, which time will come.
When that day comes, into the trash it will go!
