Truck tires vs. RV tires

Just wondering if anyone has put same size truck tires on an RV? A friend with a Tuscany 45’ told me he did and got two truck tires for the price of one Michelin RV tire. He also said there was no noticible difference in the ride!!

Very common to use over the road tires on large class A's

Toyo are the most common truck tire sold to RV's but many others are out there as well

My Tuscany cost enough that a bit more for the best tire sure don't bother me

I always run Michelin on steers and don't bother me to pay a bit more.

The term "truck tire" doesn't really say much. Truck tires could be retreads, regrooved, or new. Lots of different brands, Michelin is just one brand. Tire threads are like oil threads on a motorcycle forum, endless opinions and personal choices.

You didn't state what coach you have so it's difficult to say!
Your friends Tuscany most likely has 22" wheels so they are "truck tires".
If you have a class A gas or C on a Ford chassis you'll likely have LT (light truck) tires. And Yes they sell commercial grade LT tires, but that's comparing apples to oranges from your tires to your friends.

Your MH came with "truck tires". It didn't know what it was gonna be when it rolled off the line as an "uncompleted chassis". Commercial Truck Tires are what came on it from the factory...manufacturers do not cut cost on new vehicles. Stay with what came on it or purchase similar spec'd tires based on "completed vehicle" gross weight. Mine came with Continentals and they've been excellent. I've never had air loss below 3-4 pounds and they wear very even. I an a bit anal about checking tire pressure...this is 90% of assuring good performance. Check tread depths across the surface and adjust pressure accordingly to maintain even wear. He who buys tires based on the best deal price-wise is asking for trouble.

We are on the same page. I am always checking pressure just got through washing tires and rims and my covers are back on. I have only replaced one so far and that was because of a slice in the side wall. I will be replacing the front drivers side tire with Michelin’s again this season.

A lot of folks run Toyo M144 or M177

Probably the most popular quote truck tire used on RV'S

Michelin tires supplied for RV'S are RV specification tires for reduced energy and longer sidewall life

Check their data and review the options

The most common problem reported is sidewall cracks primary due to under inflation

A lot of people want their Class A/C to ride like their Cadillac and lower their tire psig

Stiffer sidewall and higher psig will ride rougher but should minimize sway

After 60 plus years on the road it is easy to spot the smoke blowers

Me personally, I use the same tire the coach came with (and the recommended inflation on the sticker inside the coach). Mine had Goodyear, and that was what was installed when it came time. Other tires may not be RV specific from a side wall, tread, and composite design. That does not mean you should not use them. Sure, you can save a few bucks with an LTL tire that is not RV specific. I have had both and prefer the OEM tire

We're talking 22.5 inch tires

Back in the day i upgraded 16 inch to 19.5 for capacity
