Batteries

I am going to upgrade to a dual battery in the Coach. Looking at the weight which is around fifty pounds. Since it is in the tray under the top stair how hard is it going to be to get that sucker up and out of that hole?

Easy... get a battery lift strap and lift it right out. Under $10.00. Click image for larger version

Bob,

Can you add water to those batteries? I have what looks like the same ones in my 29M. However, they are in a compartment and are not as easily accessed as yours appear to be.

I pulled mine out in order to give them a drink...
It seemed that the toughest part of the job was in diagramming where all of the wires had to be hooked up.

Congratulations!
You don't have to sell a kidney: just take one of your own pills, and grow another one!

The replacement batteries I bought have built in straps and weigh 65 lbs each.

Yeah, and about at knee level, that go into a slot, with a strap across the top. Lots of cables to clamp on too. Oh yeah, don't hit a C/B next to it. Wish't I was 20 years younger doing these repairs.

Right on Bob. No need to remove, grunt and cuss over watering the batteries.
Just get one of the Flow-Rite kits and keep those batteries in top shape. And they are so cheap, you can keep your kidneys.
The batteries do get thirsty when you are constantly plugged into shore power. I use one of the Dollar Store ketchup bottles which accepts the tubing nicely and you can squeeze the bottle until the batteries are filled.

Using the Coleman camp stools is good. Putting a small section of plywood under the batteries so they can move easily is another one. Transporting the batteries with a dolly back and forth is another one.

We've got a brand new Dollar General Store right up the road from us!
Where do you get those Flow-Rite kits? I've heard of them; but haven't done any research on them yet?

Bob, I have a new flow rite from my old lead acid battery laying round in the RV storage. I didnt purchased the hand pump. But I think the freight rate to NY would kill us unless you are in AR/MO area anytime soon.
