Battery Disconnect

Went to check on my 2018 Hurricane 29m today and the house and engine battery were both dead. I notice that the light on the Battery disconnect was on. When flipping the switch to off the light still remained on. I ordered a new battery disconnect switch from Thor. Is there any other areas I should trouble shoot. other then the battery disconnect switch ?

The problem is probably not the switch. It is probably the latching relay that the switch controls. Tapping the relay with a screw driver handle may dislodge it.

Don't buy from Thor if you can help it. Virtually everything is made by someone else. Thor just assembles them.

Get the part number if possible from the bad part and buy on Amazon. Or find a physically similar part and buy on Amazon. The latching relay has about a 200 amp spec.

Our switch stays illuminated in both positions as well. Sometimes when loading up for a trip or groceries etc., something will accidentally hit the switch and you not know it. I try to watch the voltage meter as its the only indication this has happened. Poor location selection on Thor's part. Same as the jack control panel...you have to stand in the step-well on your tiptoes to reach it and use a flashlight to see it.

If the batteries where dead how was the light on? Or was that after charging the batteries?

Flipping the switch to off the light will remain on if plugged into SP. It is not a switch indicating light but a voltage present on the DC buss light.

The latching relay is what actually connects/disconnects the house batteries from the house DC buss. It is controlled by the Battery Disconnect switch. Thor has used two different types of latching relays:

The one by Intellitec looks like:

The one from RV Custom Products looks like:

I wouldn't assume you have a bad latching relay without verifying it with proper troubleshooting first.
