Battery Disconnect Solenoid
Hey All
I have a 2017 Thor Tuscany 45 AT. I am trying to locate the Battery Disconnect Solenoid - can anyone help?
I am having an intermittent issue with losing all power to the house. If I reset the battery shut of switch by the front door, all comes back. It happens when on shore power or going down the road.
Chasing an issue like this is going to be fun but would apprecaite any help. Even a picture of what I am looking for would be a start.
Thanks

Not a latching relay problem if it happens on SP; but it may be a loose connection problem. Check post #3 in this thread for what it may look like:

Right rear compartment close to the Magnum Inverter
Apparently your on the original Trombetta, for you at least, it could cause some issues if the contacts are bad with charging and 12v
Are we talking just 12v power loss?

I have attached two pictures. The one item has a lot of grease on it. Is this what I am looking for and why the grease?
Thanks for all the help

Something is really odd
Solenoid should be clean, sealed with sealant, and have wires attached
The control module is in the left bottom corner
Need to view your photos tomorrow on my monitor, to small on my phone

Nope, not it.
A Trombetta problem wouldn't cause your issue and you don't have a BIRD/Trombetta you have a BIM shown below by the arrow.
Normally the latching relay is close to/behind the power center.

Did you mean to include a photo - " you have a BIM shown below by the arrow"

Your controller that feeds your BIM (which may or may not be original) is under the loom at the bottom left.
Check connections and voltage there and at the BIM
Investigate the Greasy Solenoid without control wires, it could be the issue, see if there are any hidden wires or is it just a jumper now and if so why?
Be curious as to what you find out
I have the same power controller but have the Trombetta as the original equipment supplied in 2016 so perhaps an upgrade but don't explain the greasy solenoid purpose.

I contacted Thor and the solenoid is normally located under the bed by the main fuse box. I have a new solenoid on order.
Now, if anyone knows how to get to it under the bed that would be helpful. To me it looks like I need to take the bed apart to remove the wood panel.
Ideas?

My main fuse box is to the left side of the 1/2 bath door
Nothing at all under the bed but storage
You do have a 45 foot Tuscany?
With a modification apparently based on your photo
All of my solenoids / controls are in the photo you shared

Yes - 2017 45 AT Tuscany. The main breakers are definitly at the foot of the bed.

Somebody before you coated that with grease (I use Vaseline) to keep the contacts from corroding. I’ll leave the rest of the electrical questions to the more knowledgeable folks on this forum.

Using grease is a big NO NO on electrical contact points. Pull all that apart, clean it up well (brake clean and a wire brush), re-attach and tighten well (be careful not to bust the solenoid stud out of solenoid). And if, and only if, you want to protect from corrosion, use a little paint. But that grease WILL get between contact points, cook, and become an insulator.

I would replace the greasy solenoid
Check all battery cables and remove and clean every post
Check cable terminals for corrosion and replace as needed
Load test batteries
Go from there

I received the Battery Disconnect Solenoid from Thor yesterday and it looks like this. Apparantly it is under the bed by the main fuse box. Have not got to the exact location yet.
Question for the group: Yesterday I check the water level in the house batteries and it was abnormally low. If there any known issues when the water level in the batteries drops? Normally I am pretty good with checking but must have missed something along the way.

I changed to AGM batteries about 4 years back
Batteries were always low on water and the corrosion on the battery holders and cables was getting worse by the month. if you use the inverter much the load on the batteries heats them and there goes the water
Still amazed that you have a solenoid under the bed and a fuse box. Mine is the same year and all the 12v electrical is in the rear compartment with the inverter

Keep in mind I have not specifically found it yet. Looking through some cut outs there does appear to be a box there but it will have to wait for the weekend for me to try and figure out how to get into the area.
Seems like if I bring the bed in the storage door might be above the screws to the removable panel.
I am going to check the water again today but have noticed the voltage readings on the firefly are more stable.

Sure will be curious as to what you find. Also what have you decided the greasy solenoid does?
Some fellow a couple years back with a Tuscany had batteries mounted in the rear instead of the back drivers side compartment so they do change things
