Exclamation Battery Issue!!

I have a battery question. I have an 2015 ACE 30.1. It has 4 Trojan T105 6v Batteries. Had it for about a year and have had no electrical issues.

This week I went out and flipped the use/store switch to 'use'. All seemed normal. interior lights came on, Jensen stereo in the dash came on. I Turned on the Freedom HFS Inverter and all looked fine. My goal today was to exercise the 4K Onan Gen. It fired up fine, waited a few minutes and turned on the A/C to apply a load. It ran for about 90 minutes. I then turned off the A/C and let the gen run under load for about 10 minutes before shutting it off.

It was then I noticed the ceiling lights went off as well as the inverter. So at this point the only time I appear to have 12 volts is when either the generator is running or the shore power is on.

When in the use position all I get is the Jensen stereo in the dash to come on.

Checked the batteries water level, it was low in 6 of the 12 cells, so I topped them off. The stock battery monitor panel says batteries are full. Checked voltage at the batteries and they were all around 6.25 Volts.

Any Ideas / suggestions would be appreciated.

Not sure exactly how old they are. I do not believe Thor would have put Trojan T-105 Batteries in originally.

You have bad batteries or battery, 6.4 after charging or in that range with a good meter

If you have 4-6s, you have 24 cells. What are the other 12? 6.4 sounds low to me. Most inverters I've researched shutdown at 10.5 though that may not be your case. It would explain the 'outage' as you explained it. Need more info to help.

6.4 VDC across a 6 volt FLA battery is fully charged.

My Fluke will generally read 6.38 on fully charged Trojan T105

Go with AGM replacement so you don't have to check water levels

They’ll typically show over 6V at charge and even 6.25V sounds good but you’ll see V drop quickly when you start to draw from them.
I think my bigger ? Is why was the water level so low to begin with. Battery neglect I would guess. I service my original pb acid batteries religiously. I only ever add a few ounces of water twice a year. Batteries can be expensive so take care of them.

Did you check the circuit breakers in the battery compartment?

Did you wiggle the battery cables to see if any of them is loose?

Did you check the fuses and circuit breakers inside the coach?

Problem identified - In the engine compartment inside the RV Custom Products TH-1020 BCC box. There was a gray re-settable breaker in the lower left corner of the box. Be being tripped it was not sending 12 volts to the 12 v fuse panel. Reset and all is good to go. Learned a little more about the 12 v system. Thanks all for your suggestions and advice. See link attached for pictures of the box.

Sadly we have the same poorly constructed RV Thor 30.1. I had the exact same issue and replaced the converter. It wasn't difficult. It’s located under the bed and only took about 30 minutes.

And 18

This was a make you think question from a dc power class I took in the early 80's

The closest drawing I can find is series parallel using 12 6v for 36 volts.

Wiring Your Battery Bank In Series Parallel

To get 18v from 4 6v...you would have 2 6v wired in parallel = 6v, and 2 6v wired in series = 12 v, wired in series = 18

(6 + 6 =6) + (6 +6 =12) = 18

We had a tech replacing the 12v batteries in a series parallel system that made 48v, OOooPPppssss he wired it just series $100K system poof.

Yes, you CAN get 18 volts from (4) 6 volt batteries in a non-standard configuration. The two batteries in parallel provide no benefit.

Hey RKING, I have a 2016 ACE 30.1. love it but the way, never so much as a minor problem.
