TV Antenna replacement question

Hi guys
New member here thank you for allowing me to join. I have a quick question I had my TV antenna replaced because the old one was broken off in a storm. It seems odd that there’s this much extra wire I wanted to know if this is normal?

I’m not sure if it’s normal but our A.C.E. has a wad on the roof too.

and Welcome

Thank you. It seem like a lot of extra wire.

you need to push that into the roof and reseal, if not it will whip around and beat the roof going down the road.....very annoying

I was going to suggest securing it with zip ties
then I zoomed in on the roof, the installer glued it down.

I'm guessing the old antenna was the Wineguard "bat wing" which was a crank-up antenna. If so, that length of cable was needed to allow the antenna to extend above the roof when it's in use. Extra cable is not needed for this antenna, but really won't harm anything either.
