Black tank shows 33 % full

2019 Windsport 29M
No matter how many times we flush black tank and drain thoroughly monitor shows 33% full.
What is wrong?

Probably nothing. The monitors are notoriously inaccurate. Even the ones mounted on the outside of the tanks seem to be for some reason. Mostly you just sort of have to get used to it.

Cool

A Google search will show 34,583 ways to get the sensors to show the actual level.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
And out of those 34,583 exactly none of them work.

Yeah... Gauges not reading accurately is pretty common.

Some people call:
Dust bunnies
As
Ghost turds.

I suspect a haunting.

Only outside the tank sensors are reliable in a reliable way.
Seelevel 2 is an inexpensive alternative which uses your existing wiring.

Couple or3 gallons of water in the tank.
Flush (2) 10# bags of ice through the toilet
Add a few good squirts of Dawn detergent

Take the coach for a sloshing good curvy, stop and go ride for about 30 to 45 minutes.

Drain, rinse, repeat as necessary.

This works just as well if you save the ice for the adult beverages after that curvy 1/2 hour drive.

Thanks to Covid19 I've completed a lot of projects I've been avoiding.
Last week this one made it to the top of the list.

Only one product has worked for me, BUT I can't find it.
EXTREME CLEANER by Happy Campers - RV & Marine Extreme Tank & Sensor Cleaner

And one tool.

Very limited success with the built in system, uses too much time and water and will lose the battle.
Limited success with the tool down the commode if used often but it will also eventually fail.

This time I went with the "what ever it takes" method

Got my 5gal bucket, hazmat suit covid mask unhooked the slinky hose, hooked the house water hose to the tool opened the dump valve and pushed it up and into the tank.
I was really surprised at how much paper (and stuff) came out!
The 5gal bucket needed to be emptied a couple of times.
I dumped it in the house sewer clean out... lots of fun, smell not bad, so we do get something for ALL those chemicals .

Good news it worked
First time the black tank has shown empty in over 2 years.

We had one of those for our toy hauler.
It's so Much easier to put in through the toilet and let the toilet valve close against it to keep the splashing down.

33% Tank

I will be going out in 2 weeks. My campsite has a sewer hookup.
I will put 2 10# bags and some Dawn in the black tank. Drive 100 miles to site and empty. I will post the outcome.
I hope that does it. If not I will move on to Plan B.
Thank you!

I flush my black waste tank with a spray wand. It seems to work . Well most of the time. You can buy a spray wand or make one like i did from PVC

Most of them show 100% all the time. Hasn’t changed for 50 years.

You’ll likely never fill the black water tank.

I suppose you have the conductive type level sensor, but in case you don't:

I have the One Place central panel which uses LevelGuard external sensors two-face taped onto the tank. Mine started to report 1/3 full (when empty) out of the blue. Turned out that an unrelated chassis wire harness had drooped over time to the point that it was now close enough to the top sensor in my black tank to "trip" that sensor. Any one sensor tripped is considered 1/3 or 1/4 full - depending on the total number of sensors. A wire tie took care of it.

As others have said, those sensors are never accurate. But I have the same issue. It's just material stuck to the inside of the tank. I use one of those flexible wands when this happens. Next time you dump your tank, stick one of the wands down the toilet and rinse the side down. That should take care of it.

I have a Thor Hurricane 34j. The black water tank is on the opposite side of the Rv from the toilet. Can you add hose to the spraying end of that swivel stick so it would reach the tank on the other side
