Brand New Windsport 32N... What a first trip!

We recently purchased a brand new Windsport 32N and took it out this weekend for our first trial overnight before a trip we have planned in a few weeks. Thank goodness we did!!

Has anyone else experienced the leveling jacks being extremely abrupt? Or should it be a smooth process? When our jacks deploy it is very rough and when you retract them it literally just drops the entire unit all at once. As though you had a floor jack under each corner and literally just cranked the handle all the way and let it drop!!

Also, does anyone know the average time for the water heater to be on to heat the tank properly? We tried the 110volt hot water switch and never got hot water. So we turned on the LP switch and waited for 20 minutes and only had luke warm water.

These are just a couple of the laundry list of issues we had (DVD player did not work, awning lights not working, carbon monoxide alarm going off repeatedly, steering wheel 30 degrees off center.) Needless to say, we are now taking the camper back to the dealer after putting roughly 50 miles on it.

Thank you.

The Lippert leveling system is very rough in its operation and is quick to retract the jacks. That is why numerous folks will recommend using the manual mode rather than automatic.

Hot water takes time. Electric is slower than LPG. To speed the process you can use both at the same time.

Thor recommends an alignment after loading the coach. You should have noticed the wheel off center during the test drive.

Thank you for your reply. I did notice the wheel along with a few other issues the dealer is scheduled to correct.

I too thought of trying the manual approach to leveling but they would not operate when doing so.

Thank you for the info on hot water, wasn't sure if you could use both at the same time.

When we took delivery of our Hurricane 32n, the water heater did not work on AC. It turned out to be a bad relay. Perhaps a problem with that model Atwood water heater.

I have a Hurricane 32N. An alignment took care of the steering wheel issue. Our water heater worked for awhile on 110 volt but stopped one day. It turned out that all of the wires that came on the water heater from Atwood did not have enough sheathing removed. There was not enough copper exposed to make a good connection.
