The Cole Hersee unit I am considering has a delay for connect as well. It is a "smart" relay with all the electronics that are on the BCC board inside the mounting case. Also has bi-directional - house and chassis - voltage triggers.

I like the switch idea to shut off the OEM solenoid. If I put back the OEM style, I might use spade connectors on the leads to the solenoid. That way I can just disconnect it if goes out again. The way it is, the solenoid terminals are not accessible because the circuit board is in the way.
If you lose chassis power going down the road you have bigger problems than a dead battery and an Emergency Start feature will be of no help.

The unit has a battery control center which has an interconnect solenoid inside it. RV Custom Products TH-1020. I suspect the solenoid is bad. The problem is that the BCC box is nearly inaccessible tucked up under the windshield.
?
This is how my system is hooked up now with two different manual switches up underneath the hood. The BCC system is automatic w switches to bypass the interconnect relay and the chassis disconnect relay. When I drive, I bypass the Chassis disconnect so I don't lose chassis power but when it's parked for extended time, I open the bypass.

You'll notice there are 3 Shunts on the schematic. one of them are connected to these battery/energy monitors

And the other 2 are connected to this box I installed by my driver's seat

I can control my interconnect relay from the cockpit and monitor the charge status of my batteries.
