A/C & Heater

Hi everyone,
My A/C and Heater use the same thermostat. Yesterday I had the generator going and had power to all the RV. I could not get the A/C or Heat to kick on. I have tried the fuse in the thermostat. I checked the A/C breaker in the panel box. The heater was working just a week or so ago.

I geleive the heater runs on the DC side for the fan and LP as the fuel. The Air conditioner seems to use dc power for the thermostat and ac power (in this case generator) to run the roof unit.

What else can prevent the A/C and heater from starting up?

Thanks to this great group for all the advise you provide to fellow campers.
Scott

not sure if it helps
but i have had this happen once or twice
selected AUTO on AC unit and never looked at temp setting
as in the temp selected was higher than what the thermostat was reading. so i had to lower temp about 5 degrees then it came on

even though it was what i considered warm enough to come on..the thermostat was reading a cooler temp so it stayed off until i lowered the temp

As you noted the furnace uses 12 VDC for the fan and the A/C uses 120 VAC.

The thermostat uses 12 VDC control power to control the operation of the furnace and the A/C.

The thermostat get's its 12 VDC from the furnace - so if the furnace's "reset" switch is off or if the APPLIANCES fuse in the Power Center is blown then neither will work.

Remove the outside cover to the furnace and check connections to the "reset" switch for the presence of 12 VDC to ground.

Sorry folks. I had removed a dc fuse that turned off the thermostat. Putting the fuse back in fixed the issue. I would delete the post if I knew how to delete a post.

Why delete it? It contains good information and a resolution that others with a similar issue can use to resolve their problem. I assume that was the APPLIANCES fuse?
