A/C Vent Face Plates

I accidentally broke one of the slots on my A/C vent. I would like to fix it.

How can I take the A/C vent face plate off?

Can I use a thin edge screwdriver and pop off the plate?

Any suggestions?

Dan

Hi, are you talking about the round black A/C vents in the dash per attached picture? I am not sure if new ACE's still use this style or not. If yes, you can "very carefully" use a pocket knife to separate the whole front face (that has the louvres in it) from the sleeve that is seated on surface of the dash and is attached to the air duct coming from behind.

If you broke the louvres, you may find these parts from Coyote International (on line catalogue), but they won't sell retail. You can buy some Coyote Intl. vent parts from/through Badger Truck Refrigeration in Eau Claire WI 715-874-6811. Nice folks at Badger.

Javelin!
That’s it! Thank you very much.

Is the part called “4” Sierra Series Louvers?

Hi, the upper diagram in my previous post is from the Coyote International on line catalogue, and that is their information for that 4" vent. If that is the correct part (the two pieces come together as I recall), you can order from Badger Truck Refrigeration as their part number BT2-1029 for about $10 + shipping. Might have changed though. Check Badger's web page and it should come up under that part number......or phone them if it does not come up. I found them very easy to deal with via phone or email. The louver mechanism on the ACE dash vents is very easy to break (as you found out) so order a couple (one spare). Keep the vents closed when not in use...saves catching/damaging them with a knee etc. Hope that helps you out.
