Now you cut out the relay that was used and I think I can see that it was used to tie the two buses as you mentioned, but what controlled the relay? I see you have an Intellitec control in the fuse box, maybe this one, but an older version?

And you have these relays

Are they (or one) controlled by the Intellitec?

Looking back to the original OP question, I would almost suspect the blue wire would be from the converter, if in fact you originally had a 40 amp breaker in the box. The breaker appears to have been removed and the wires to it were spliced together and taped.
THIS is the best theory I've heard yet. Thank you for this. Duh, this wire is right in front of me! I will need to do some voltage tests once I get 120v up and running again.

DUDE. This is so much smarter, and I was just about to rip up and move my bed at the back of the coach adn relocate it to fit my 6'5" feet, so now moving that charge controller completely, up to the front where my batteries are, makes a ton more sense and I can disregard all this nonsense about trying to find where in my 30' cable I have a short or issue.

New plan:

1) Remove power converter from current location.
2) Reinstall it by my house batteries. Run 110 fresh circuit directly to it there (since I have to run a new 110 fuse box anyway, it doesn't bother me to run 110 line).
3) Reallocate my power inverter down to where the house batteries are too, as the thing is loud and putting it in the cabin and listening to that fan is annoying (this is just a separate part of my plan, but now I can do it together with the other mods since they're all going to the same place.

Do it based on this wiring diagram from the other site:

If u r still trying to trace a wire, using something like this might help.

Just make sure it has NO voltage in the wire u will b testing.
