cannot find OBD port on thor 2018 miramar 37.1
Folks
My 2018 Thor Miramar broken down with very rough running engine. Truck mechanic in north collins ny cannot find OBD port. Has looked at steering wheel even removing dash, firewall and by drivers seat. These guys are experienced heavy truck repair but not too familiar with RVs. Engine is ford V10 gas. ANyone know where the obd port is ?
thanks

On my MH it was right above the steering column under the dash.

You're likely being taken advantage of.
Have them put your dash back together, pay them only their base diagnostic fee,
Get..out..of..there.
Almost anyone experienced would have the experience to recognize the problem by sound or action and have the ability to find a plug on the end of a pigtail.
Experience means diagnosing the probable(not necessarily the specific) without needing a computer to tell you.
Post your EXACT symptoms here.
Watch us
Non professionals
Diagnosis it semi-correctly in mere minutes.
I doubt any of us here have ever read or heard if a mechanic so lame they can't find the obd.
A housespouse, a surgeon, a cpa...yeh, we might not find it.
A kid at a truck shop on his third day of work? He'd find it.
Or
They'll find the stub....

Bottom right under dash. You may have to remove the bottom pc under the steering wheel.

What he said.
My experience with heavy truck repair places is not so good when you have a gas engine. They like diesels, but Gas engines in RV's not so good. Most Ford dealerships for cars and light trucks will work on RV's if they have a truck department and the one I use is great and has bay's large enough.
Good luck.

thanks for help
Forum helpers:
Thanks for all the help. Sometimes when you break down you are stuck where you are at,,,,
The engine will run and generally at idle sounds ok and is usually smooth. Check engine light does not go off nor does it flash.
When driving with no bovious correlation between gas pedal position or speed the check engine light will flash and you can feel the engine shake with loss of power. After usually a brief period it will go away but it doesn't seem to correlate to speed, engine load or gas pedal position. Just a guess but sometimes I thought raising RPM made misfire go away but could be my imagination. Obviously I want to avoid severe engien damage by driving it somewhere else. I checked air filter- looked ok, pulled dog house- nothing obviously amiss I could see. Put in fuel injector cleaner to gas tank seemed to make no difference. Drive from current location to my home about 20 miles. Nearest ford heavy truck center another 10 miles but not sure they would know how to find teh obd any better but not sure....
I wonder if telling them to replace all ten spark plugs and COP would be worth expense and fix it...
Tnx fer everyone's help. If anyone has an actual picture showing the OBD on the steering wheel that might help......

There is no "COP (cap? as in distributor cap?)" on your engine and the spark plugs are good for 100K miles. And the OBD port is near the steering COLUMN, not the steering wheel.
Unfortunately it sounds like you have an intermittent problem which is the hardest kind to troubleshoot. A static engine scan will probably just show occasional misfire on one or more cylinders but may help point you in the right direction. I would try to get it to a FORD dealer that can:
Find the OBD port
Connect a live data scanner and test drive the coach to see what's happening when it misbehaves.

I have a 2019 Miramar 34.2 and the port is to the right of the steering column at the top behind the dash. I’ll take a picture when I get home if you can’t find it.

One port
Look I believe the mechanic is blowing smoke up your skirt. My friend with his Tiffin Allegra with the Ford v-10 was having check engine light showing. So grabbed my OBD reader and crawled under steering wheel. After about 3 minutes I asked permission to remove one panel because it “has to be right there”. Sure enough it was right below steering wheel where most OBD ports are located.

I agree with ducksface, find another shop. A good mechanic should have a some suggestions for a starting point like a premature breakdown of a spark plug or coil.

My guess based on owning Fords for along time and symptoms you described is a bad coil pack or two.
