Carefree awning light issue and repair

The Carefree awning installed on my ACE had a plastic track near the top edge of the fabric that held an LED light strip. The problem was that the light strip was coming out of the track. I just got at trying to do something about this but when I got up on the scaffolding to work on it I found that the stiches holding the track to the fabric had rotted to the point that I was on good windstorm away from having the track ripped totally free, nearly 25% of the strip was already lose and when I touched it a bunch more stitches came lose. Then a light tug puled the rest of the track down off the awning. The track was extremely brittle, stiff, and warped. I carefully removed the light strip from the track and attached it to the side of the coach about 2" below the awning rail, I used double sided tape to stick the led strip.

That's the way my Axis light strip is attaches--with 2 faced tape. I had to add more, though, as it wasn't continuous.

When I had our 2018 Thor Siesta 24SS, the same thing happened over time. The stiches rotted away so I just used double sided tape and attached it to the side of the coach.

Did you buy your coach new? In my case the PO used what looked like roof patch tape to attempt keep the light strip attached to the awning. When I disassembled the mounting strip from the light strip, I found that the Light strip had a self-adhesive backing. The backing was mostly intact with the wax paper protection still in place. I probably could have just stuck the light strip to the side of the coach with that backing but I did not want to chanceit so I added new double-sided tape.

Bought just 3 months ago used. Check the hole that the thin wires for that light strip come out of. I sealed mine with clear RTV.
