Caulk Question
Looking for Caulk recommendations. We need to do the roof and for that part of the project I purchased the Dicor self-leveling caulk but I'm reading that for the sides and windows I would be better off with something else. How is the non-self-leveling Dicor or is there something else recommended?
Thanks

Body sidewalls I have been using clear RTV Silicone. Use ONLY Dicor on the roof no silicone products or some folks have switched to Eterna Bond tape on the roof

Once you go silicone you can't go back:
This is the industry standard for sealing anything on the side of your RV:

I use a big box store product called Lexel on my vertical surfaces. I think it is superior to silicone in every way except ease of use. It’s pretty sticky and getting a smooth bead takes a bit of practice. It’s good stuff.

Practice making some beads on something else (not your RV) first because this stuff is not your typical forgiving house caulk. I would even suggest taping off either side of the bead location (the areas where you don’t want this Geocel caulk to get onto if you have a fat smoothing finger) even though taping is a PIA. I have found with tape though, I can get a bit of stringing occurring when it is removed.......but I would rather be early removing the taped edges, than wait too long. If you use tape practice the removal timing as well. Many folks have no issues using it, but I treat it with respect and do a smaller length bead of caulking at a time; finish it and move on to the next segment. It is very sticky caulk.

Sikaflex 221. Available on Amazon. It is not silicone, but it turns into a solid rubber material when dry. I used it to repair the half assed factory caulking job over the frameless windows in our Challenger. Works awesome. Their website has lots of info and specs on all their products. Good stuff.

Silicone does not stick to itself once cured. You have to remove all of it including the film left after trying to cut it off a surface. There are products that do, with scrubbing, remove the surface film. I have successfully done this on granite in my bathroom shower. I will never use silicone in a bath or shower again. I don't remember the name of the product that I used, but it was flammable and takes 24 hours to cure. Mold resistance and 20 year life. The best thin almost invisible bead.
For the RV, Dicor on the roof and ProFlex everywhere else.

I've used that on my boat but not the RV. Does it come in clear?
