My rectangular tank has the vent on the opposite side of the pass through bay. There should at minimum be a hole even if the duct is not connected.

djcarter, I ran an 1 1/4" tube rated at 150 degrees from the furnace under the shower, lower area of the bathroom vanity then thru the floor between the Black and Grey tanks. Tight area but it worked out. Do you have any thoughts on insulation?
