Took the Thor Ace to CW on 12/3/2018 to replace the Jensen radio/camera and for 2 Thor recalls, shower curtain and wiper arms. Well after 10 weeks it is not fixed and the service manager has no idea. I always hear CW is horrible on repairs and now I am a believer. Same excuse, have no idea when parts will be in. What even gets me more is when I ask for the status, he says he would have to check with the technician. Why didn’t he do that before he called me.

A trip is planned to CW later this week and I’ll post what happens.

I would go to CW and get my rig back. Then I would call Thor Customer Care and ask them for an alternate shop to do the repairs/recalls. I understand Thor can be accommodating on issues. I would not let CW check the air in my tires.

If you call Thor they will let you know the status of the warranty items. By that I mean have they been sent do they even have a record of the request. I had to stay on top of CW about some warranty work a few years back. Once I found out that Thor would answer my questions about the warranty items it gave me more power over CW.

I would however take your unit back and tell CW to set up a time once all the parts are in. Like others have said also look around for other independent shops that will do the warranty work stuff.

Sorry to hear about your experience Camping World also purchase my Thor axis new from Camping World. Camping World that I go to has been more than accommodating for any of the repairs I've had made. I mean from new windshield to two radios in the dash 12 volt system the camera is not working they fixed it all with a smile on her face and apologize for the trouble I've been having. I really think it comes down to the manager and the people that is hired to work for him. People make the dealership not to sign.

CW is just more in the spotlight as there are so many of them. It's independent dealers as well. Many of them will not service or do warranty if you didn't buy from them. RV sales are at an all time high and this gives no precedent to service. When the day comes they depend on service to pay the bills...their just reward will rear it's ugly head.

Like Be Happy said, call Thor. They will tell you if CW even ordered the parts and if they did then they will tell you when it was received, who signed for it, and the time it was signed. I have called CW to ask about the progress and they tell me they are waiting on parts, then I tell them when and who signed for the parts. It’s fun to see them squirm and try to come up with a excuse. Needless to say, I don’t use CW any more. I found a service center that all it does is fix RV’s, no sales.

The guy at Thor told me...while they don't want to piss off CW....CW doesn't want to piss Thor off either. Thor products represent a huge part of CW's RV sales. Thor is very well aware of the service issues CW has, how they treat their buyers and Thor is aggressively working on bring the gap together. I see things will change but not too fast. When you start adjusting a dealer's pricing and profits...things change.

I’ve bought several RVs from CW (good selection and decent prices if you’ve done your homework and don’t mind getting into it with them) but I don’t go there for service. There are independent RV repair (only) businesses that can do warranty work an will value a continuing relationship. Generally I’ll try to fix things myself - even if there is some cost - but if I couldn’t or if the parts cost too much I’d go there.

Another approach for your consideration, which helped keep track of things, was to keep a record of what both Thor Parts and your service adviser at the dealership tell you. I did this by communicating via email. One time the dealership said that they hadn't received a major part (hood) while at the same time Thor told me that it had been shipped and the dealer should have received it... Sent the email from Thor to them and later got the answer, they searched their parts room and found it. Yes, those little parts like a hood are easily overlooked....

For Soldier Girl's request, one recall was for a shower curtain that didn't meet flammability standards. the other was for the windshield wiper system was not installed correctly. Hopefully these were corrected with your model. Ours is a 2014.
