Chassis battery

Hello everyone. I just signed up for this forum and believe from what i see, it'll definitely be the best way for a first time RV'er to learn what the manuals fail to teach.
My 2016 Thor Axis 25.3 chassis battery has died. I've done everything to try to revive it but have had no luck. It's impossible to remove it from the front and the manual says to remove a dashboard component to get at it. I'm a little leary of forging ahead not knowing what i will find. Has anyone ever done this? Will it be easier than i think? Thanks

Yes, lot's about the failure of the Harris batteries and a lot of info on how to change them. Just do a search and you will find what you are looking for. Below is a link that has a battery change thru the desk top well. I have read that you can remove it thru the wheel well also. If you are the slightest bit handy, you can do it.

I would think changing it from the inside is a lot quicker and safer than changing it from the wheel my opinion, it took me 30 minutes tops was very easy.

I can't help you with the removal of the Battery...

After you take the computer station off it's as easy as 1 2 3. It's actually nice taking it out from the inside because you can work out of the elements.

Putting it back together. I glued and screwed the wood knock out piece to a 16 x 16 piece of stainless steel. Then sound deadening and insulation then put the computer top back on.

And while you have the work station removed and can see what is really going on, don't forget to reroute those two air ducts with zip-tie type hangers that keep them from resting on top of your new battery. Yes, we got to ours from the passenger work station.

Just replaced my Chassis battery yesterday on our 24.1 going the right wheel well route, was pretty easy with a second person helping....Cranked the wheels all the way to the right, removed the wheel well panel ( 4 bolts), disconnected the 2 air vent hoses and lowered the battery down...like I said, pretty easy to accomplish....

well, Tony and Sheryl were correct. Taking off the Pass.front wheel and removing the shroud (2 screws) was very easy. Up and running now.

Would it be possible to take a picture of the wheel well. I am going to attempt to change my battery myself. I am desperate to get this done ASAP my dog was just diagnosed with cancer and I have two other dogs to manage and I have this Axis sitting with a dead battery which work all winter and now it’s completely dead☹️

a picture would only be clear if I take the wheel off first, besides if it is like mine you can easily see the shroud at the top of the wheel well and you should also be able to see the screws that fasten it to the frame. there will be 2-4 of them. my MH is a 2016 AXIS 25.3.

So please let me understand, you do or don’t remove the wheel ? Or you just remove the wheel well. Sorry I am just trying to understand. This design of the placement of the battery is shameful by Thor!

Just did mine a few weeks ago, I did not take off the passenger wheel...Mine was dead also so I had to jump start the RV in order to turn the front wheels all the way to the right....after that was done I removed the upper wheel well cover (4bolts) then disconnect the 2 air vent hoses and battery cables and with the help of a neighbor who lowered it down to me as I was guiding it down through the wheel well...It was really easy....No need to take off the wheel if you have a second person helping....

We took the wheel off. never thought of just turning the wheel. give that a try first and if it's to tight for you, take the wheel off.
