Great job figuring it out!

You’re not the first to have a miswired BIRD. In my 2016 Axis, the wire from the BIRD that was supposed to be wired directly to the house battery was wired to “something” but not the coach battery. So when on shore power or generator, the line never showed any voltage above 12.3 so the BIRD never opened the Trombetta and the chassis battery never charged while hooked to shore power or generator. Easy fix. Hook that BIRD wire directly to the coach battery side of the Trombetta. Figuring out the problem was the big issue.

Glad you found your problem.....I assume this never worked correctly from day one; if so, the same guy in the factory has hopefully moved on to checking tire pressures instead?

Now, I know that it never worked correctly from day one. However, since it would “appear” to work when I first hooked up shore power and then suddenly stop working later, it was very difficult to figure out what was going on.

We had this problem last year. So, I killed two birds with one stone and added USB ports with voltmeters to both the chassis and coach side. This way I could quickly look at them and determine if it was working.

It would always work after I ran he engine and charged up the chassis battery. Then later it wouldn’t be working. Now I know that it would work because the chassis battery would be above 13.1v for a little while after running the engine. But, once it fell below 12.6v, it would shut off.

That made it very difficult to figure out. I’m hoping this will help someone else who has the same symptoms.
