We picked up a new Thor Miramar Thursday. Took it to a park Saturday that had not turned on water at sites due to a cold snap. They had one fill station to load water.
I was having difficulty telling if the water level was rising on the tank. After putting in what should have been about 50 gallons, water started running down the wall from the floor level. Checked gauges and water tank was still empty but gray water and black water were both 100 percent.
Dumped the Gray in the grass right there (we hadn't used anything, but it ran up into the bath fixtures and I needed to lower the tank level). Then went to the dump station and dumped the black.
At this point I was too frustrated to think it through and try the sanitize setting to see if that filled the tank. Cancelled the trip, bugged out, and will let the dealer figure it out tomorrow.
My question is has anyone else ever experienced this on a Thor?
There's only one hose attachment and it has four settings:
.................................................. .. Fill Tank
..........................Sanitize/Flush..........................Dry Camping
.................................................. City Water
Welcome--
I'm not familiar with your RV... But- When you get to the dealer, start over. Have him show you how to operate every system on the Rv, Run the Generator, hook up to shore power, fill and drain the fresh water tank, run the AC, Heat pump if you have one, the furnace. Work the slides. Locate slide controller, coach batteries, battery disconnect switch, transfer switch, converter or inverter, fuses, antenna connection for TV's, play DVD.. Anything you have a question on..
Surely the flush connection isn't the same as the potable water connection
If this is truly the case then that is a serious health issue for anyone using the same hose bib and certainly the RV
They both tale a male hose end and on many coaches they are within a foot of each other. He would not be the first to overflow a waste tank thinking they were filling fresh water.

Welcome to the forum. It sounds like you accidentally hooked up to the sanitize connection and not the fill/city water connection. There should be two separate hose connections.

Technically it shouldn't be since both have back flow preventer and if working correctly nothing from inside the connection will get back into the hose. The black tank flush should also have a one way suction valve as well.
With that said, most owners that have a black tank flush system are a little smarter than to do something as stupid as you suggest. Most of us carry a separate hose which is used when dumping tanks whether it is grey or black and that hose is used for flushing the black tank as well as rinsing the sewer hose after tank dumping is complete.

I think your coach is similar to mine you connect to city water connection and turn blue knob to "city fill tank" i think the others are correct you connected to black tank flush.
Behind this panel is a mass of white hoses. New from factory, my bet is on a miss plumbed connection between the black tank rinse and the fresh water tank fill, the only way the water can get there. It is a tight space and tough to see what goes where, I labeled all of mine just for sanity purposes.
There should be no connection between the black and grey tanks, was a faucet left open?
Thanks everyone. We went back yesterday and yes, I was hooked up wrong. There was a large QR Code warranty tag hanging on a valve and covering the freshwater connection. Good news is neither gray or black tank had been used.
I also appreciate the suggestion to actually have them demonstrate everything. There were a few items that they just pointed to.
I bought a 37ft Miramar in 2018 and after a year of trying figure out the filling and the piping took it to the shop and it had been hooked up wrong at the factory from the getgo - so hopefully yours is hookedup correctly !!
Enjoy your travels. These things tend to create great stories around a campfire with a beverage or 2. Remember when I filled the water tank and overflowed the toilet?
If we're supposed to learn from our mistakes: why am I not yet a genius?
That’s because we repeat the same thing over and over expecting different results. Einstein’s definition of insanity. I don’t know about you but I’m loony as a coot.
