Hot water after being winterized

Currently on our first trip down south. Just bought our RV and it was winterized when I picked it up. Filled up water tank before we left home, drove 200 mls yesterday but no hot water. Turned "hot water heater gas" to on. No hot water this morning.

I am sure it is a simple solution, just no idea what it could be.

Thanks 👍

Yes, it is on and range does light. I did find something online about bypass valve. No idea where that would be in a Freedom Traveller A30.

Not so simple. If properly winterized the Water Heater is bypassed and empty. Water lines are full of antifreeze or air. If you turned on the electric element it is burned out. To use hot water you must DEwinterize. Flush out antifreeze if used in all the water lines. Change the WH bypass valves to fill waterlines and Water tank. YouTube is your friend.

Water Heater bypass valves are on the backside of the water heater. 1, 2 or 3 valves depending on the model. Click image for larger version

Turn off the heater NOW.......
Sounds like the heater is bypassed and empty..
The valves are behind the heater Look on the outside of the rig and see where the heater panel is then go inside and and look for access inside.

You should see three valves, two in the blue and red lines, turn them on them one should be on a line that connects the blue and red lines, turn that off

Fill the heater by opening a faucet. THEN turn the heater on

I did find 2 valves under the kitchen sink. No bypass valve. Hot water valve was turned off. Turned it on and water heater filled up. However, still no hot water after about 30 mins. When I turn on the faucet hot water comes for about 2 seconds, that's all

Will hit the road now. Let's see if any luck when we get to the next overnight stop tonight. Thank you everyone so far

That means the WH IS STILL BYPASSED and you probably burned out the heating element. when you get to your next stop put the heater on gas and see if it works. Are you sure you found the WH bypass valves. You were told that the by-pass valves are BEHIND the WH. Go outside and find the WH then go back inside a find it.

Water in the heater is definitely hot. Just need to find the bypass valve. YouTube is not of help, I could only find the Freedom Elite, not the A30 which seems to be in a different location. Does anybody know which model is similar to the A30 ?

Thanks again everybody!!

But he said the water heater is filled up and that it doesn’t work on gas either.

To the OP....if you open the outside water heater access cover look towards the top and you’ll see a brass valve with a small silver lever on it. If you lift the lever you should have a good flow of water. Cold or hot at this point. If you do NOT then Cavie is correct and you don’t have the unit out of bypass mode and likely will need to replace the heating element although it should still work on gas. If you switch your water heater to gas can you hear the burner running when you look from the outside?

Problem solved. TY everybody.

Valves are under the kitchen sink. The third valve ( the one I couldnt see ) is close to the floor, hidden by plywood. Working fine now

Thanks again - will be back with new problems soon - LOL

Great news!! Shame on your dealer for not showing you the valves when you bought it, but glad we could help. Now I’m just curious...does it still work in electric mode?

Enjoy your travels.

Don't know yet. Heated up on gas just fine. Turned off gas and put it on 110v. Will see to tomorrow if it still hot. If not, I hope it is just a breaker

Well it’s an easy DIY repair if your heating element is burned out and one you can do at your leisure. All the best.
