??? Checking/Adding Engine Fluids ???

Greetings from a YOOPER!! Upper Peninsula, Michigan
(Those living above Mackinac Bridge are Yoopers; those living below the bridge .... Trolls)

Just purchased a 2019 Thor Hurricane 34R, from private seller. He had zero knowledge of anything mechanical. (Pretty much like me )

I sure would appreciate instruction as to where each engine fluid is located, (I see 2 yellow dipsticks) and HOW the HECK do you add each fluid????

Does the engine cover next to driver's seat have to be removed to reach each fluid: Oil, Antifreeze, Trans fluid, Brake fluid???

Thanks so Much for your Help!!

Was were you are

Get the manuals. If the seller didn’t give them then go to Ford website and download the 2018 F-53 manual.

Short answer. The bonnet does not meet to come off to check any fluids. Will need to do so to inspect your serpentine belt, some hoses and of course spark plugs.

If he didn’t give you a Thor manual for the coach you can got to the Thor website and download those as well.

While your in the mood. Make a list of every component in your rig from tires to awning to frig to generator etc. go to their websites and download those manuals as well. You are probably going to need to change generator oil and filter and air filter.

Make a large binder with all those manuals. You can’t rely on internet when you need the info and you can keep a record of all service in the binder as well.

Welcome to the wonderful world of owning an RV. You either have to have the money and patience to have things repaired and services or you have to learn new skills. I chose the latter.

As BuzzDoc said get the F53 owners manual from Ford. You want 2018 as your chassis is almost certainly the model year before your MH. Then go to:

https://www.thormotorcoach.com/owners

and create an account. When you that you enter your VIN and that will give you access to manuals, and videos related to almost all of the products on your specific RV.

Call a mobile mechanic. Have that person come out and show you around the MH. I can’t imagine buying a RV when you don’t know how to open the hood to check and add fluids.

Another thing you will want to do is get the LippertNOW application for your phone. Lippert makes much of the equipment that is in the motorhome like jacks, slides and steps, etc, sometimes under different names. The app has manuals and trouble shooters, and how to fix info.

Check inside the closet door for a list of all equipment, moidel and serial numbers to help with that manual search.
