Cleaning Skylite Dome

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on cleaning the skylight dome? Going around doing my roof inspection I've noticed the dome is yellowing are there any products that clear that up and condition the lexand?

yellowing sounds like uv damaged plastic to me. I wouldn't think there's much that can really be done.

that said, there are a few different types of skylights. The one that was on mine from the factory was some cheap flimsy stuff that yellowed horribly. Just before I had my roof sprayed I replaced with one that was better quality but then had it over sprayed with the roof coating (rvroof.com). It closed it off entirely but helped structurally, thermally and acoustically. I am extremely happy that I took them up on that!

So an "out of the box idea"...wouldn't help in the ways that my coating did, but you probably could lightly sand it and spray it with some plastic friendly spray paint. It would cover the yellowing and prevent further UV damage that will make the plastic weaker and brittle.
or
It's really not that hard of a job to replace the skylight.

The dome over our shower was horribly yellowed. I cleaned it with a Dollar Store product called LA's Totally Awesome, which removed 95% of the yellowing. Then rinsed it well, dried it and applied a few coats of spray ceramic wax.

It's been covered all winter, but we'll see how long it lasts into next summer before yellowing again.

blw2, thanks for the insight and advice. I will be replacing it with a premium brand as you suggested. The light sanding/painting sounds like a good project for a cloudy day, and a little less expensive. I'll be doing that first.

Thank you
