Convection/microwave just quit

High Point convection microwave no problems then last night wife opens door and poof all lights go off, receptacle still has power. Never had a problem with it any ideas looking for quick fix or toss it.

there is an internal fuse in the back. You will have to pull it to get at it. You have to pull it to replace it anyway. Try the fuse first.

A Google search says $79 service charge $70 hr usually 100 to $200 to repair.
Sounds like it's worth it to take it in for an estimate, your going to have to take it out anyway.

Microwave oven

If the door feels loose it could be a primary door latch switch which will blow the fuse

Dead microwave

See if the laches have a sting to them
Mostlikely you have a inverter circuit board it could have loose connection near the diode and regulator ic

Also if you are removing the cover it takes a T15 or T20 tork with a hole in the middle

My husband is always tinkering. He drags home microwaves all the time. The usual problem is the door switch. Most of the time, he takes it apart and just cleans it. Can't tell you how to fix other parts on them; however, that is the first thing he looks at. We have been able to continually upgrade our convection/microwaves from the ones people have thrown away. So have all our friends.

Sorry, I don't think I explained it well enough. The switch(s) are an electrical component that are operated by the door latch. When the latch is opened or closed the switches stop/start the operation of the microwave. They are located under the cover. The connections/switches can get dirty.

Every builder uses the High Point and it is a Low Point in their build. Many don’t last long.

Remove your top cover and sides, and they should all come off together. Follow where your AC wire comes in to power the unit. Somewhere inline there will be a thermistor fuse. It looks like a solid fuse with a couple of numbers written on it. This is a safety device that will go out for a number of reason's. Make sure your MW is unplugged and get a ohm meter and check for continuity between both sides. If it is open, you will not get power to the unit. You can cut this out with cutting pliers and go to a local electronic's shop and they can give you an exact replacement. You will need to replace and put it back exactly like you took it off. I have changed many for people and this little part is about $2 to $5 . This is 90% of the problems with these units.

Microwave

We have a reputable appliance store close to where we live. I was there a few months ago to replace the microwave in our house. The salesman advised me that microwaves usually do not last even 10 years. You cannot find one that is not made in China anymore. Not worth paying someone to repair in my opinion.

Not true, every builder does not use the High Point. Our Challenger had a Whirlpool which worked great for the 5 years we owned the coach. Our Accolade has a Furrion which I never heard of but so far it works well.
