1996 Four Winds Hurricane House Batteries

Could someone post photos of how their house battery cables are connected? I replaced my 2 batteries and ended up with 2 cables extra, and am not sure where they connect. One is a large diameter ground cable that connects to chassis. The other is smaller diameter that disappears under radiator. Both are black, I see no red. Pictures might solve this, particularly of the driver side house battery. Bryan

With rare exception HOUSE batteries are not under the hood or near the radiator: CHASSIS batteries are.

Any cable that bolts directly to the frame has to connect to the negative side of the battery.

I suspect the other cable will go to the positive post but that is not something you guess at or experiment with. Without a picture of the cable attachments BEFORE everything was disconnected (a great use of your cellphone in any disassembly project) you either have to hope someone with your model coach comes up with the answer or picture for you, or trace the cable out yourself.

Hopefully someone with the same coach can help you out. It is a hard lesson, but a few photos of before you take a part are valuable. When it is figured out you make want to label each cable also and keep it with the coach.

Yep, if I’d taken a photo there would be no problem. Lesson learned!

Can you get us a picture from just a bit farther back? Perhaps if we can see some of what is around the batteries...
It'll add some perspective.

Got it!

Dummy me, I must be getting old. Looked at the situation afresh this morning. I had zip tied 2 sets of cables together so I wouldn’t lose them AND zip tied the positives together and the negatives together, thinking that obviously I would remember such a simple solution! Instead, I mixed them up, erroneously thinking that one of the positives was a negative. Simple stupid. It works fine now. Thanks for your help! Pictured is the correct connections

You see the cable on the positive that has a bit of red peaking through? I thought it was negative and tried hooking it so. No wonder I had sparking! Problem solved, thanks again.

It sure does make you feel better when you have it all figured out.
