Dead Radio
Well I'm tired and lazy tonight. Don't feel like doing a search of old threads
Went in the mh tonight to get it ready for a drive tomorrow. Radio won't come on
Yes use/store is in use. I assume its a fuse but not sure where it would be located, engine compartment. Drivers side foot area, electrical panel???
Just hoping somebody knows before I start hunting for it tomorrow

Well, probably the path of least resistance is to pull the doghouse so you have enough space to lay on the engine looking at the back of the radio. There should be an inline fuse there for radio power but bring your multimeter to verify you have 12 VDC there going to the radio. If the radio is receiving 12 VDC and not working then it may be beyond its expiration date.

I wouldn’t be too sure it’s just a fuse. But of course it’s the place to start troubleshooting. In addition to the fuse you’ll eventually find in a fuse panel there might well be one inline behind the radio. This is because Thor uses a commercially available radio and they invariably have them as the manufacturer doesn’t know where it will be installed and needs to protect the radio. If you have to pull the head unit anyway you might consider replacing it with a better one. I just put a mid level Kenwood and an upgraded amp in my coach and it’s a significant improvement. The original Xite had failed and despite having GPS I never liked it.

Jerry,
I just saw your post. Did you find the problem? I had to trouble shoot the same problem. If it is the same radio as mine it has two fuses because it has two power sources. One is in the fuse block. One is in-line located in battery compartment. My problem ended up being a loose pin in a wiring harness connector.

No havent fixed it yet
I checked the main fuse on the fuse block. Its good. If this heat wave breaks I'll check the battery box. Someone posted the fuse is behind the batteries accessible from underneath
I really hate this radio and will probably replace it at some point

Jerry,
Check out my thread “Axxera av615bhm problem report” if you get a chance. Might give you some ideas if your fuses check out OK. You may have to pull the radio out and check for loose connections. Many people upgrade to a better radio. Good luck.

Happened to me last summer. In my 29M, I was able to pull the dash panel in front of the instrument panel and reseat a loose plug on the back of the radio. Good luck.

I have made this offer before, I took out my AXXERA radio and replaced it with a PIONEER unit, the radio worked with the cameras but it is not set up for SIRUS radio, its FREE to any one who can use it, I will box it up USPS express shipping and send it off, you just pay the shipping, the model number is AV615BHM

Dead radio
A repairman came out today to look at my dead radio (factory). He reset the radio in the rear and now it works BUT camera isn’t getting a signal at all. He stated was probably a bad wire somewhere or camera is just dead. We will look into a wireless camera system with back and sides. We only use radio auxiliary port for portable SiriusXM, which we use with connected boom box at camp sites

If your unit has the BCC, check it. I have the FW221 model and the two radio fuses are F35 (Radio) & F39 (Radio memory).

I dont know what BCC is and the two fuses you mention are they in the main fuse area in with the breakers or is it by the drivers feet
I checked the one fuse there and its good

So sorry, my idea of 'common knowledge' may not be someone else's.
The Battery Control Center is located in front of the driver of Hurricanes (I thought all of them), is a video of one model. Good luck.

Hope you figure it out Jerry.
We had a strange occurrence last week....radio worked fine, but when we connected our phone via blue tooth, the volume control on radio wouldn't work.
I could turn it up, but the volume never increased.
We had to set volume by using the phone volume buttons. Even then, it was barely audible.
(Note: if we used regular radio, volume control on radio worked just fine).
We only had a 3 hour drive, so we toughed through it. Once we got home, I finally tried a reset of the radio.
Bada bing...everything worked again.
Hope your fix turns out to be a simple one, once you can zero into it.

Bryce it a power issue for me well actually its no power to the radio issue. Did the reset, nothing. Checked main fuse goof. I still haven't crawled under the battery box to see if there's an inline fuse there
Its been averaging high 90s to 100* here. No motivation to crawl under the mh eventhough its usually cool under there. If rather just sit in the pool and relax
Also I hate the radio and really just want to change it but if there's no power going to it a new radio won't work either
I need to pull the radio out, check the connections and see if power is getting to the wire harness
Hopefully I'll get this done sometime this year
Jerry

Well its still 100* out here but I got motivated to crawl under the mh today. Checked for an inline fuse in the battery box. Sure enough it was there. Thanks Shawn
The fuse was good but the problem was the spliced wire. It corroded and broke at the connection point. Fuse wire is red and ties into yellow wire. I hate mismatched color wire. Well there wasn't anything else to connect to so I cut the corroded parts off and butt connected them with heat shrink connecter then taped them up
Put a few zip ties in to hold several different wires off the box
After 4 years I do have some corrosion in the battery box. Another project for winter, so cal winter means 70*, is to replace the stock batteries, clean the box, and spray some kind of plastic coating on the box
Radio is working so thanks for all the help
Jerry
