Couple of questions on Four Winds 31W

Love our new Thor Four Winds 31W and the Premier Package makes if pretty fully loaded. Have figured out most everything except:

Supposedly it has a whole house filter - can not find that filter and worried about winterization and replacing it when necessary

Also with winterization, trying to figure out where/how to use the pump to directly feed Antifreeze into the lines WITHOUT having to fill the Fresh water tank. Have seen several videos of using a tube connected to the pump to place in a jug of the stuff - but can not locate that area at all - and do i need to buy any special tubing for that to work?

Thanks for the information!

Bob

Have you found the pump?

Since you have a full wall slide the tank/pump probably won't be there. The first place I would look is under the bed.

Spot on with location I believe - and the Water Filter is there too! Gonna post a couple of pics as I still do not see exactly how/where to connect a hose to pull antifreeze! Thanks for the quick response JamieGeek!

Picture - I think

So here is what I found - the filter is pretty obvious - we didnt get a wrench that I know of but I have one from a home filter - guess just removing the filter and putting back the empty cartridge is best?

Still not sure where to attach an external hose for antifreeze - but so much closer!

The supplied filter wrench is different from the standard GE Home filter. Housing is not the same.

Luckily the under the counter filter we have at home does have a wrench that works! And low and behold the dealership did remove the filter before winterizing - and didnt replace so between that and the typical Florida water taste - answers why it was a bit .. not so tasty! :-D

Tank and pump found...

So with the filter all figured out - only question is avoiding the fresh water tank. Wondering if the clear tube connected to the fresh water tank would be the one to disconnect and use? Also there seems to be a cut off valve...is that from the tank to the faucets?

The clear tube is a vent. Look at your pump. There will be a shutoff from the tank to the pump. You first turn that off. Following the line to the pump, there will be a line capped off. Remove the cap. Fashion a hose to meet up with the threads of that line. That is where the antifreeze is supplied to the system.

Thought that might be the real option So in the pic the blue line with the cap on it? Just gotta fashion something tight enough to get suction? At least I have some 10 months before the next freeze!

Yes the blue line with the cap on it is where you put the antifreeze. You can see in the pic further down there is a valve to close off so that the pump only draws from the tube and not the tank. Close that valve for winterizing, open it for normal usage.

I unscrewed the cap and took it with me to a home improvement store to find a fitting that would fit. Then I picked up about 3' of hose. Now when I winterize I just set the bottle next to the fitting there and run the hose.

Drain down system 31w

If you ever want to drain and blow out system with a compressor. The drain valves are under the drawer that is under refrigerator . This will also drain down ice maker. I find this a little easier then filling it with antifreeze .

That did seem a less intrusive way. I bought the blow out attachment for my compressor so may go with that method. At least now I know all the options and where to find all the right places.

No need for a tight fit... Just a hose that you put into the bottom of the antifreeze bottle...
The 'normal' path of drawing water from tank is closed off (valve) - so it will draw from the bottle.

just remember when you're priming the pump (when you first put the pipe in the bottle) to open up a faucet--if the pump doesn't have anywhere for the antifreeze to go it won't prime (e.g. priming against a closed system).

Our Quantum ws31 is the same floor plan. We took ours out for 2 weeks in Jan. We did a re-winterize in a parking lot before coming home to freezing temperatures. This forum is great for help!
