Cover your wipers?

Hey ya'll! I am a loyal reader but not much on questions. This is no biggie, but I bought some new wiper blades (32 inch) a couple weeks ago and was a bit shocked at the price. Since the Outlaw is a 2020, there weren't a lot of sunny days on them and even fewer miles, but the originals were not cleaning the windshield well and even started to split the rubber at one end. It got me thinking that maybe I should protect those pricey wipers from the Florida sun when sitting idle. Do you all use wiper covers, and if so, have you noticed any significant benefit? What about covers and lifting them off the windshield (sprung out) for long periods of storage? Thanks, and keep up the great posts and advice!

How much are the covers?
Why not just try wrapping a towel around them?

I started covering mine three years ago and they are still in good condition. The sun is killer on rubber.

I bought these in 2017 and they seem to still be working

Most use pool noodles or water pipe sinulation but Magne Shade make specific RV wiper covers.

I have just a fabric cover that I put over the front window. I don’t know what the material is but it also can be used on the cars during the winter to keep your windows from frosting or keep from getting covered by snow.

That is what I have mostly seen.

Pool noodles are cheap, easy, and effective.

I simply pull them off the windshield. Works like a charm.

I cover the wipers and prop the arms off the windshield with tennis balls.

Pool noodles seem to solve every problem except morning sickness...

Much of my life is held together with super glue and duct tape. Maybe I’m missing out on another pillar of existence.

I got a inexpensive set of covers for the mirrors (to keep the birds from pooping on them, and it has a cover for both wipers. Easy on and off, work great. Made of Tyvec woven with something and it comes in its own storage bag!

We bought Magna Shade wiper covers at a RV show last year and use them when the RV is stored. Florida sun will dry out that rubber

I just remove my wipers when in storage and lay them on the driver seat so I won't forget to re-install.
Easy to do with the adapters for using the 28" wipers which cost about 1/3 of the 32" beasts. If you are interested do a search for wiper adapters. Very inexpensive and easy install.

I use pool noodles split to fit the wipers. They last at least a year and my wiper blades lasted 4 years of Florida winter vacations.

Like many others who have posted, I elevate the wiper blades off of the windshield so they won't "set." Additionally, whenever I treat my tires with Aerospace 303 protectant, I make sure to wipe a good healthy dose on the wiper blades. They seem to like that a lot!
