Mobile eye is factory installed on some rigs. Mine was an aftermarket install prior to delivery.

Cracked Windshield

No it would be a special order. I like using a glass professional. They picked up on the engineering problem with my original coach and Thor discontinued that model.

You can buy it directly from Mobileye Avoidance Systems. They are around $800-1000(Mobileye.com). My system was factory installed as an option when I bought it.

This week I found
Mobile-eye
Tyoe devices as low as $188
With standard type reviews.
Amazon.
Buy the 3 year money back jf you don't trust the reviews.

Wouldn’t you know, Freightliner makes 2 different windshields for this chassis. One is a glue in and the most common and the other is a gasket install. Safe lite will be back Friday afternoon with a gasket install for my rig. Today they had a glue in on the truck.

Same zero insurance deductable.

I keep forgetting to call it in...
Just for the fun of it I called around.
It took a while to find a glass replacement company that can handle the “monster” front windshield in a ‘17 & later Vegas/Axis.

The quote I received was…
- $3500 glass + $2400 install = $5900
My StateFarm window replacement deductible is $1,000

Ouch!

My initial Freightliner windshield quote was 879.00 installed. Insurance is 0 deductible.

Ok, this thread reminded me to call in the avalanche and the Thor.
Comp coverage on the thor is $436 and included the $0 glass deductable.
Comp on the avalanche is $36 and includes the $0 glass deductible.(I try to wait until I have two windshields cracked before I call out the installer. It's 100 miles round trip)

Just got off the phone with State Farm, I had found
Diamond auto glass in flagstaff
willing to do the Thor windshield.
He said State farm is a grind and will beat him up on the install, but they always just take what State Farm puts out.
He said it's a four man job for about 20 minutes of set-in, so he wants me to drive it in where his guys are at the shop. We'll make a day of it.

No idea yet on a time frame.

I'll do pictures and prices and invoices in a write-up thread.

Flying stones took out the window on my 45AT but that was not a manufacturing problem but an unexpected meteor. I will say quality control is poor at best!!!!
This confuses me, you had a thor Tuscany lemon so you bought a bigger lemon from the same factory? Is that correct?

Go figure! But this one has a much better layout and no problems to speak of and I have had it for five years.

For clarification…
- my question to the glass company was…“if I was paying cash, how much would you charge me?”. He said $5900

- in CA, front glass replacement is not a separate line item on the policy. Instead, it’s grouped as part of Comprehensive. So whatever the Comp deductible is, that’s the deductible for front glass.

So, I can choose to reduce my Comp deductible to $0, but I’ll pay it in higher premiums.
For me, a $0 deductible represents about a 30% yearly premium increase.

The 0 deductible is because some states mandate that insurance companies offer it. Some states don't or have versions of it. When I was in AZ all glass was covered 0 deductible including headlights, turn signals, etc. In FL I think it's just the windshield. AL doesn't require nor do insurance companies offer it. As was stated I could reduce my comprehensive to 0 but that gets expensive real quick. When I was in AZ that 0 deductible was nice but the rest of my insurance was much higher than I pay in AL. They get you someplace. Back when I was in AZ a rock truck which had apparently just left the quarry had loose rock all over the sides, frame, etc and made a flying debris field going down the road. Took out my windshield, both headlights and one turn signal. When I filed the claim with USAA they were trying to initially deny it under the glass coverage because I surely had hood or other body damage thus it would be comprehensive, not glass coverage. They didn't get away with it because I refused to acknowledge any body damages however they did allow me to buy the lights, which they reimbursed me, and install the lights myself rather than the labor expenses at the Mazda dealer. I did some work and "saved" them the labor charges.

So back to 0 deductible glass coverages, seems great except the rest of your premiums are likely higher.

What is your Comprehensive deductible?
What is the cost of this coverage?

I asked the state farm agent to break it out of the comp(as information for this thread)but she couldnt without some phone calls.
The glass coversge is a seperate billing in az and is an option.
My comp deductable is $1,000 but my glass is $0.

She thought it added $12 yearly to the avalanche and $130 yearly to the axis.

I will be 40 years of premium ahead of them on the avalanche and about the same on the RV.

They do not get you somewhere else.

I can change carriers any time I like.
I hav2ent checked in many years
But
Most states used to offer a
Self-insured option
by you depositing money into state held account.
I THINK AZ and CA was $50,000.
Or
Drop your insurance.
Just as
12,000,000 puddles of spume have.

Safelite returned with the correct windshield today. Took them one hour from start to finish. I will get some double sided tape and reposition the Mobile eye camera.
